Dan Bern in the house
He burst on the music scene in the mid-1990s as the latest “next Bob Dylan,” another Jewish singer-songwriter from the Midwest, singing topical songs with wit. Twenty years, several albums, music and writing projects and miles on the road later, Dan Bern remains true to his muse.
On Saturday night at a Moorestown, NJ, house concert, Dan Bern performed old and new songs for dozens of fans, including one listing Barry Bonds’ year-by-year home run totals. He even recited a poem about teaching tennis to retired basketball legend Wilt Chamberlain. And, yes, he had a few things to say about today’s politics.
