"I need you alive for the next few days, at least.” (meme)
“Who the hell are you and why are you doing this? do you have business with the Gran Carina?” Arched brows seems to be only furthering their descent toward the bridge of her nose, making her pretty face look almost distorted with anger. She was radiating of it, not understanding how such a lanky, frail looking men had managed to capture her off guard like that. She could play his game a little bit. She had the advantage, right? There would always be a way out.
“Do you really think you can get away with this?” She probably should stop asking questions but her blood was boiling with the need of getting answers. There were very few people in this world that were stupid enough to approach her in that manner, what with being one of the richest woman in the world, owning up to 20 percent of the world’s wealth thanks to her brand of casinos. She made her fortune on the misfortune of others so maybe he just was one of these poor little sap who’s family was broken by a gambling problem.
“I’ll give you 10 minutes to untie me. After that, there is going to be hell to pay.” If he hadn’t searched her, she could probably get to the blade she kept hidden against her thigh and free herself. She’s gonna have to be armed with patience first, though.
He leaned back against a drawer across the room, a few feet away from the girl tied in the chair. Lowering his head, he met her eyes with a blank stare, the muscles in his face fixed to conceal any hint of emotion. And yet, he could feel his heart beat prominently in his chest, fuelled by the adrenaline flowing through his veins. Other than the tenseness in his shoulders, his body betrayed no other signs of the mild disquiet that lingered.
He was not a stranger to accepting dirty work, or jobs that came with high risks, but regretfully, when it came to kidnapping, he considered himself still lacking in experience. The bulk of his cases involved surveillance, investigations, and thievery, with abductions or kidnappings being fewer than the fingers he could count on one hand. And even in those few times, the victims had only been held briefly, no longer than a full day. This was to be the first time he would have to keep someone against their will for a few days, before the predetermined exchange. He was not looking forward to the inconvenience in the least.
However, there hadn’t been much of a choice. Carina was an important person, a highly successful tycoon who managed a chain of casinos worldwide, raking in billions in the global economy; her schedule was tight. Upon discovering that there was to be a cruise on one of the Grand Carina ships departing from the nearby harbour with Carina onboard, he had bought himself a ticket to sail on it, and spent the first few days of the voyage observing and noting her comings and goings. After identifying a duration in her schedule which would leave her the least guarded by security, he set out to put his plans into actions.
First, he found several guests that were of an ill-mannered nature, and paid them off to start trouble in the main casinos on the ship. When security was busy dealing with the chaos, he moved in to close on Carina herself, who was supposed to be retiring to her room. He disposed of the two bodyguards stationed outside her quarters, before proceeding to catch her off guard.
In the luxurious room lit by soft golden light, Law regarded the girl, light purple hair falling to the sides of her face. She didn’t look fearful in the least despite having been restrained, but more annoyed instead. He was surprised, but appreciated that Carina wasn’t causing a commotion by screaming out for help. As such, he didn’t see the need to gag her, yet. He hadn’t bothered with a blindfold either; his only disguise the shadows cast over his face by the hood of his jacket. Carina would possibly have bigger things to be concerned about when he handed her over to his client. And even if she remembered his face, he didn’t think it would cause him much trouble at all.
“I’ll untie you if you promise to cooperate,” he said, finally, the corners of his lips pulling up into slight smile.
The ship was nearing the end of its sail, and would be docking back to land in a few hours, which was all the time he had to act.
Straightening, he moved to plop himself down in an armchair across Carina, crossing his leg to rest his right foot on the opposite knee.
“There’s no need to get upset. You won’t be hurt if you don’t resist,” he explained, leaning back into the soft cushioning, and resting his face in a hand propped on an armrest. “I’m to take you somewhere off this ship. We can either do it the easy way- you leave with me on your own two feet, and tell your guards you’ll be taking a short stay on land..”
He paused, shifting to lean forwards.
“Or the hard way- where everyone ends up getting hurt.” A tingling of anticipation skittered over his skin, and he smiled, “What will it be, miss?
