Jedi sighed when she walked out of the back of the diner where she worked, carrying the trash for that day with her. It was the end of her shift and she was looking forward to just going home, watching a DVD and then diving into bed.
She hefted the lid of the dumpster up and tossed the trash bag in, letting the lid bang closed. She cracked her back and turned to go inside again only for a man to block her path. She let out a gasp, stepping back on instinct. “Jesus…” she gasped. “Don’t do that…”
The man in front of her smirked. “You might wanna try the opposite.”
“Opposite?” she repeated. “Of what?”
“Of Jesus.” The man grabbed hold of her, shoving her back against the alley wall, pinning her against it.
Her breath left her in a rush. She felt the man pressing himself up against her, running his hand over her side. The moment she got her breath back, she pulled in as much air as she could. “Help!” she screamed, hoping Mitch – the cook in the diner – would hear. “Help me!”
The man laughed, his eyes going pitch-black. He grabbed her throat, making her choke for breath. “Don’t bother, baby girl, no-one’s gonna hear you scream.”
Jedi gasped for breath, praying that someone would interfere.
