I caught a cold when I thought I'd have a week end. So I did not do half the things I wished to.
BUT I have been rest-gaming instead. And so, let me hereby introduce my second Githyanki Tav, largely inspired by the Wind my beloved character.
So, in a way, this lil man here who I love with all my heart, is also largely inspired by Horde Prime and my HCs for His origin story.
My man's called The'Lios, it's a mix between thelema (wish, (divine) will, desire), thelo (intent, will, desire) and helios (the sun) - basically he encapsulates the will, wishes and desires of the light itself, or, of knowledge itself. Some themes never die.
He's a mix between all things and I needed to be close to the Wind even while sick :3 Also I think I cannot write any characters who are not a new version of my favourites xD
It's been a while hasn't it. Well, college is time consuming and I have other real life stuff to deal with, hence why I'm late. Anyways, if you haven't seen part one of this post then please click here. Those are my HTTYD ideas and are probably going to be the first ones I outline. That post also has an explanation of what this post is all about so I recommend you read at least the top portion. But enough formalities, below are my Rise of the Guardian ideas. I'm not going to put a giant spoiler warning because this movie is from 2012, but for those who haven't seen this film go watch it because there are spoilers.
Okay, so before I go into the details of this story, I need to make sure that the right amount of back-story is covered. Before I even go into the back-story though I need to put a disclaimer. This AU has a major OC character, so if you’re not into those types of fics you might as well scroll down to the next idea.
Anyways, this idea stems from the one scene where Jack calls the wind to take him home. I know there are some fanfiction’s out there that make the wind an intellectual character but this AU goes even farther than that. The fic would be entirely through the point of view of the Wind making it a very interesting series to outline.
It would range from the time before Jack came into existence till after he became a guardian. The major focal point would be the Wind’s back-story and his friendship with Jack Frost.
The back-story of wind is extremely complicated. He has history with the guardians and avoids them like the plague. To put it simply, even though he never shows himself to Pitch, he at least will send whispers as a means of communication. The Guardians on the other hand do not even think the Wind can have a conscious. I think that can give you an idea.
The Wind has always existed in some shape but wasn't given a mind or a physical body till Mother Nature gave him direction.
Speaking of Mother Nature, his relationship with her is distant at best. She gave him a will but didn't support him as he began to have ideas of his own. She acts more like a boss than a mother which leads to very sad circumstances.
Some more memorable chapters I have in mind are the times where he acts as a mediator for Pitch and Mother Nature. Basically, he becomes their therapist and deals with their little temper tantrums.
Unlike Jack, the wind does not have a past human existence. This idea is what I would like to play. Jack and the Wind have different creators that did not nurture them. This bond is what starts their relationship but what separates them is that their purposes are drastically different leading to all sorts of conflicts.
Even though he was felt on his own for the most part he did come across a mentor figure in the form of Old Man Winter. The Wind admires Winter. He is calm and collective yet could become a dangerous force of nature that even Mother Nature could not control. His admiration turns into a father son relationship with a bunch of feels attached to it. Winter being one of the oldest and strongest spirits helps a newly born Wind through his transition into the life of a Spirit.
There are also other relationships such as his hilarious friendship with Valentine and all the other holiday spirits but those aren’t as meaningful as his fatherly love for Old Man Winter.
This all changes though when he learns about the Moon’s plan. After the initial defeat of Pitch, the moon decided to make a backup guardian who would become Jack Frost. Now I don’t think the moon can just give ice powers at random so in this AU he asks Old Man Winter to give up his physical powers in exchange for becoming one with winter. He agrees but not before telling the Wind of what is to come. He asks him to watch over the new spirit and to make sure he does not succumb to loneliness.
So in that moment, the Wind becomes Jack’s mentor in exchange for all the aid Old Man Winter gave him. Though later he comes to truly care for Jack in a platonic way. (Though if I somehow start something I’m not stopping it in anyway shape or form.) I could go into more detail but I have a few more AU’s to keep talking about and this one is getting a bit lengthy.
A few side things to talk about is the wind’s characteristics. He dislikes being in his physical form and only shows himself years after meeting Jack. This leads him to being out of practice when he needs to show himself causing for some hilarious situations.
He appears youthful yet can cause destruction in a blink of an eye. Not many know about his physical form. Even Pitch has very little knowledge of the Wind only knowing how to hear its whispers when Mother Nature wishes to speak with him.
I previously stated, I would be doing one of the HTTYD AUs first but I’m starting to grow on this one a little more.
ROTG Headcanon One-shots
Well this one is self-explanatory. I have a lot of feels when it comes to Rise of the Guardians and the Wind AU can only do so much.
These ideas are just lumped into one and I won’t be going over them in detail.
What I will say is that most of these One-shots will be either before or after the movie and will have some OC characters. None of them will be as major as the Wind.
Most of these will be in the point of view of the Guardians and will be on the level of Snowflakes from Fanfiction.com.
Sorry for those that actually strolled down since I don’t feel like elaborating too much on this idea.
To put in a little more meat into this post, I do have one more AU that I find interesting to work on.
What if Jack had said no Guardianship? Various Deviations Included
Okay so if you go anywhere on the internet where there are ROTG fanfictions, you would eventually see these types of deviations. Now I say various because these would be under a series of oneshots designed to tell a similar ending.
Unlike my previous list of one oneshots, these would be deviations rather then headcanons.
The first one that I have always loved is the idea of Bunny actually hitting Jack during Easter. This would seal Jack's fate in my book as a hit would never let him look at Bunny the same way. Someone on fanfiction.com has done something like this but it’s too much of a hassle to try and dig through that site. If I ever come across it before I do my own extension of the topic I am sure to credit them for inspiration. I also think it was part of a prompt but I'm not a hundred percent sure.
The next one was also found as a prompt. It's basically Guardian shaming. Jack leaves before North can give him the talk at the pole. This leads to Jack complaining to the Moon and other Spirits about what happened. I’ve always had a headcanon that Jack had to have some sort of interaction during those 300 years because if not he would have probably gone insane from the lack of social interaction. The rest of the movie would be about the partial fall of the Guardian's and Jack realizing that if the Guardians fall then Jamie and all the other kids of the world would have nobody to protect them.
There are a few more I could go into detail with but those haven't had enough development to have a bullet of their own.
So there you have it, those are all my ROTG ideas. Now the moment of truth, I can finally talk about my obsession of Kingdom Hearts! See you guys next time. :D
