This Evening Walk: Summer Wind Whips
I walked this evening and the wind was so nice, had to write a poem about it hehe 19 June 2024
Chasing the Wind
A familiar longing overtakes me
Sweeping me even into the rafters
The call comes, urging me to fly
The joy of the ride, the journey
Have you ever chased the wind
To and fro as it dances before you
Lagging a little as it taunts so gently
Then collapsing in a laughing heap
I submit! Just as it slips away?
Oh the capricity and insatiable wind. .
What would it take to fly with thee?
To see the world from a different view
To look on the proud oceans and seas
To smile on the endless sea of trees?
Oh I would dearly love to dance with the wind
I would like to see what it shows me
If it gives up its darkest kept secrets
And if I jump, high enough perhaps,
I could glimpse some of what is to come?
But the wind stills slow in laughter
I will not run, not now, not today
But I still wonder. What is there
What would I see, if I ran. After the wind.
Photography by Miquel Llonch
the wind
she dances among the stars,
soft clouds for her ballroom floor and whispered wishes for her gown.
i tell her a dream as we spin across the sky,
forgetting what i’ve said the second the words leave my lips.
she is the fantasy of a restless mind,
shifting so quickly that i wonder if i ever knew her at all.
others may wonder which form is her truest face,
but every moonlit revel is just as true as every starless saunter.
her words for me are sweet as sugar,
precious dandelion-puff promises.
the night may last only for a few eternal seconds,
but her sweet nothings will echo in my ears long after dawn.
Turmoil
The wind and rain
Were made for me:
This day I needed them;
To know there was
Something else as tossed,
And turned,
In turmoil as I.
An earthy sigh
In the mighty trees,
Shaking madly between the leaves.
My mind full of questions,
My heart full of lessons,
And warring thoughts and scars
Cut open the turmoil I carried
And spilt my venom
All over the prettily lined pages.
Fruit Juice
Breakfast of cold fruit juice,
On a day like a furnace;
I am in earnest
To stay sweetly cool,
And hope that this morning breeze
Sticks around
For the afternoon too.
Comfort
Listen for the sound
Of epiphany.
Whispering trees
To comfort a lonely breeze.
And I am always lonesome,
Comfort me too!
A curl of wind
Ruffles my hair anew.
Wolf
The wind tore the roofs
From the houses,
A wolf’s blow
Like no other before.
Sloughed like snow,
Sheared like sheep,
No longer sheltered
Or allowed some sleep.
Bright Life
I wandered away
With the wind.
To lay on clouded pillows,
Feel his comforting billows of breath;
Bright life with only hints of death.
Mortality may be what we have in common;
All of nature bows before it,
We cannot be an exception:
So learn to love your own reflection,
And wander away with the wind.
