I’m sorry to all my moots
you can unfollow me now if you want. I’ve opened the can of beans and now I fear I’ll be posting about the two British twinks I started following in October much more than I thought
I understand if you want to *sniff* unfollow me
…
I’m also looking for dnp moots if anyone is interested
:)
We just passed a goal that seemed impossible, thanks to YOU
I can’t believe I’m writing this!
Just 11 months ago, I wrote a story about how a tiny group of queer fiction writers once took a chance, at the urging of the late Brian Mack (BFoundAPen), to start up a general-purpose LGBTQ publication on Medium — to amplify queer voices around the globe.
I wrote about how we struggled to reach 1,000 subscribers. I wrote about how delighted and astonished we were, less than a year ago, to have cracked 20k subscribers, how thrilled we were to sometimes see our stories trend on Medium and reach serious numbers of readers.
Today, all of us at Prism & Pen are again astonished and delighted to report a milestone.
In just 11 months, we’ve soared from 20K to 30K!
In that same 11 months, a literary agent reached out to ask us to place his client’s story in P&P (it then trended on Medium), and I fielded a cooperation request from one of the biggest digital queer publishers in the world.
Suffice it to say that Brian and our merry band of queer fiction writers never expected this! (We may have dreamed of it, lol.)
To celebrate, let’s take a look at some of our favorite stories from last August until last week.
it will always hurt
the reason is not them
but me
the world is hued
in melancholic colours
distrust in
every
footstep
a
stranger
takes
people can be good
yet time has passed
and im too far gone
to go back
because
when you grow up
in a burning home
to burn is all you know
oh to be
seen
loved
understood
I shed my scarred skin Like a snake growing older To clean and to heal

and if anyone tries to tell you
that this must mean it's this way
the only way it means is this very important thing
i tilt my head, i shuffle my feet
i add an extra i, i fold in a couple ee's
for i find and learn the difference
is not so different of a differential thing
we can all learn new ways, news meanings, from olf
we can mostly honour the listless roll
what role does it play to say
"i don't understand, there's an extra letter!"
"you're missing the point, words have their meaning!"
ja, und kann ich verstehen das für ein minuten
oui, je ne joue pas aux jeux
atashi wa choudo nani ga juuyou ka
mitsukeyou toshite iru
we can each and all of us be correct if we correct what is correct for each of us
i simply wave my hands and say
"it's lovely hearing from you, sharing space."
fret not the things that others misunderstand
miss understood? we can try again!
s. maiden - sharing space - original poem - i do not consent to the use of ai with or in any of my works
