Day 5: Schlagenheim by Black Midi (2019)
9 songs, 43 minutes
most popular song: bmbmbm
personal fav: Near DT, MI
Again, a very tough choice on which album to include from BM between this and Hellfire (2022) and the nod went to the one I find myself going back to listen more often, but totally understand why Hellfire is their more popular album as it is also EXTREMELY good.
Sometimes overwhelmingly discordant, noisy, and so much fun if you allow for some whimsy. Specifically highlighting Cameron Picton here as the only known queer member of the band, acts as part-time lead vocalist and bass player. RIP Matt Kelvin.
Tracklist:
Blues • Terra • Holy, Holy • The New Sound • Walk Up • Through a War • Bongo Season • Motorbike • As if Waltz • The Magician • If You Are But a Dream
Have you listened to The New Sound by Geordie Greep (2024)?
Yes, the entire album!
Partially, some but not all songs
No, but familiar with it
Haven't heard of it before
Submitter's note: The first solo album by Geordie Greep of black midi, released shortly after the announcement of the band's indefinite break.

Shame performing Six Pack. The lead single from their third album Food For Worms, an album the band called an ode to friendship that wrote about their friends and people in their lives.
Shame are electrifying performers live! Charlie Steen stalking the stage, and I lost track of how many jumps and runups and flips bassist Josh attempted. Music is an endurance sport for some!!
Just a small sample of the many pics I took from the recent Squid show in Portland this past weekend
Inktober No. 6
