This is a Galaxian-like game where you move left and right. And shoot. And the theme is flies. Various colorful and cheerful sprites. And Windows 3.11 design. I've now improved the menu. There's font scaling. And a menu for selecting the screen scale. It is, after all, a vertical shooter. And here in the main menu, you can use the left and right arrows to select the screen scale. From 1 to 5. This is the zoom level.
The main feature of this game is also the screen selection. You go to the main menu and there you can select the screen size. Everything changes on the fly. But only there. Screen 1 is very small. Screen 5 has vertical stripes and is 1080p. This is the hallmark of this game. From a technical standpoint.
I also tweaked the text in the menu. It now also scales and expands to fit the screen. Everything is displayed proportionally. White background. Black text. This is a Windows 3.11 feature.
And it's time to describe the game concept itself. I've been thinking about it. 5 flies in a row. They can stand still or perform a simple movement. One of the flies can perform some special movement on the screen. Like in Galaga. But only one fly does this. The rest of the flies can shoot at the player. Not often. And stand still.
Then I came up with an idea. Waves. A wave moves. And each wave has 3 levels. Each level has its own number of enemies. On the first level, there's 1 line. On the second level, for example, there are 2 or 3 lines. And on the third level, there are 4 or 5 lines of enemies. And so on for several waves.
A separate idea is fun sounds. To make it more fun. For now, this is all just an idea. And it hasn't been implemented. Otherwise, it's just another Galaga-like game. I like making games like this. I'm always trying to automate their creation!
The game window itself looks like a Windows 3.11 window. There's a blue bar at the top. And a gray frame. Around the edges of the screen, barely noticeable. And a white background. This is also part of the game's design. Flies and Windows 3.11. These two ideas formed the basis for development.
The background is white. Simple. And the text is black. In this sense, everything is simple and concise. So, I already have the idea for the game. Now all that's left is to program this concept.
There was also a problem with reading the keyboard keys in the menu. Yes, even that happens. I spent a lot of time. I tried different methods. I found a solution. But so far I've only implemented it for one menu. The one with the main menu. I tested it on that one. It works. This problem was unexpected.
It probably happened because the program code files themselves are now encoded in utf8 BOM. It used to be something else. And reading arrow keys, for example, stopped working. It reads letters. There's no arrow. Arrows are two symbols in the code. The first symbol comes first. And then the second, which duplicates some letter. And that second symbol is the arrow. There are arrows on two symbols now. That was probably the case before, too. But I just read it somehow and didn't bother. And it worked. I ran into this problem. But I managed to solve it.
Meanwhile, I got over a week-long cold. And soon it will be summer and spring. And all sorts of flies will fly. Grasshoppers. So I'm preparing a toy for their arrival! So to speak, I'm getting ready to welcome my friends. Good little animals.

The New Year has arrived. For all gamers and retro users of retro systems, this is magical and important. The computer magic continues to sparkle. You launch your beloved Windows 3.11. And you realize that this is a unique system with its own graphic design. I've always loved it. This stylization. Windows 3.11 has such a white palette. Here and there, blue. And maybe, as I thought back then, these were cool colors.
In any case, it has its own visual style. And retro gamers and retro users continue to use their favorite systems. Already in the New Year. A retro Christmas tree. In the style of Windows 3.1, Windows 3.11.
Lots of white. And blue shades. This is how I picture this system from memory. A Christmas tree, in the style of early multimedia. Ribbons flying. Snow falling. Large Christmas balls all around. And a festive, wintery atmosphere. A winter palette. A little snow below. And everything around is white. Snow. And the surrounding space, the air. Everything is airy white. And a Christmas tree in the center.
Windows 3.11 greetings! Happy New Year! Adventures and magic. Everything awaits us in the new year. Inside the computer and program code. Ribbons are flying. Snow is flying. The most magical, white winter. This is now. The most wintery days. This is also about now.
In the world of Windows 3.11, everything is always white. And this is such a winter operating system. With bright tones. Like frost. Like a pale blue tint. Ice. Water. Snow. The Christmas tree is a symbol of the holiday. And here it is, too, so blue. I have a small Christmas tree myself. And it is such a blue color. Almost shiny. Plastic and something like ribbons there. Ornaments are hanging on it. There is a teddy bear. And round Christmas tree balls. A few things. And a big pine cone on top. My New Year's tree.
In the new year, I'll have floppy disks and bytes. And bits and CDs. Windows 3.11 is such a mysterious and interesting system. It's time to try it out. Play a quest. A windowed one. A text one. A video quest. Or a drawn one. Try out the mouse. The power of Windows is in using a mouse. It's a truly mouse-based interface. Multimedia capabilities. And a Christmas tree. It's about the holiday and the New Year. Which continues.
Lots of white space and a small drawing of a Christmas tree. And decorations. Ribbons are flying around. And it's snowing. It's a winter holiday. Winter every day. There's so much snow outside. Such pure white snow. It's even hard to walk on it. There's so much of it. The air is frosty. Now is the perfect time for white. It's winter time. It's Windows 3.11 time. Happy Windows 3.11 New Year!
