How to setup a Volume Control Keyboard Shortcut on any Keyboard in Windows 11!
PROBLEM
So you might have a keyboard that has no speaker icon which would be the main keyboard Volume up or down, or simply the shortcut just randomly stopped working. In my case, I had this expensive $200 Gaming Keyboard that had the pageup and pagedown as the method for Volume Control, but eventually it stopped working, and for whatever reason. In Windows 11, there is a solution!
SOLUTION
Using a piece of software called PowerToys which you can download for free at Microsoft. at this link:
Install PowerToys | Microsoft Learn
And when you finish downloading and install the progam, go ahead and launch the program. When it opens, navigate to > "Keyboard Manager" in the left side navigation list. > And then as the Keyboard Manager is opened, make sure the Enable Keyboard Manager is "On" > And then next look under Shortcuts section to find "Remap a Shortcut." > Now click on it > and a window should popup named "Remap Shortcuts" > Now click the "+ Add Shortcut Remapping"
To set a Custom Shortcut, Under "Select" Section click the "Select" button to continue adding shortcut, and choose any shortcut you desire for your newly volume shortcut to be. Mine was Ctrl + PgDn. When finished click ok. Now the second section, Under "To Send" click and scroll through the list right under Key/shortcut. So the second drop-down list, NOT the Key/Shortcut. Look for "Volume Up" or "Volume Down," in my case Volume Down for my Ctrl + Dn shortcut.
Just repeat those steps for all three Volume Control. Volume up and Down and Mute. After you repeat those steps for all 3 or whichever you want, click OK at the top of the popup window to save. and then Test out your new shortcuts!
I hope this worked for you like it did me!
