Austin+Steven
It all started with a Facebook post that a sweet friend tagged me in. And then the three of us got stuck with one another.
On October 9, 2019, Steven and Austin were on a getaway in Greece. Steven asked for forever, and Austin agreed. Then two years later on the button….Steven held him to that.
And what a day it was. Converses were everywhere. Personalized ones for the grooms. And, of course, I had to wear my signature pair. And I got yet another reminder maybe it’s time to learn a little bit about the world of Harry Potter.
In a hotel suite at the Last Hotel filled with a few of their favorites, the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff got ready together. (Just Googled, and a little happy I got the spellings right).
I got to step from behind the lens when we learned that their shirts weren’t made for cufflinks. Thanks to a borrowed divot poker fixer thing and a pair of fingernail clippers, we were in business. Just one of the perks of having me….I’m not just creative behind the lens.
Then I drug them to the roof. Where else should we start pictures when there should be nerves? One thing with that. Not these two. They were completely cool as cucumbers. And perfectly dapper.
With a crew of framily we passed a few familiar spots and made our way to the Campbell House, Chucks on toe (see what I did there?).
Your time with your wedding party should be full of laughter, inside jokes, maybe some butt grabbing, and free of drama. These friends were textbooks for that.
After discovering my keys were locked in my car….yes, with my dress for the wedding itself…and my hubby swooping in to save me....we got those boys down the aisle. Yeah, and that dude, too.
Steven and Austin were married by a dear friend who just got them. The vows. They were real. And precious.
Then after some tears….From him.
And some from him on the right.
And a Mom or two. And...well, me. The groom kissed the groom.
Then...after some dinner, cake was smashed.
And then we danced. And twirled. Cotton Eye Joe’d. Wobbled. And sang the best of the 90s/2000s to one another.
When we talked about this ceremony, we talked about the simplicity of this day. For it to be a celebration of these two.
One surrounded by family.
And some family.
Yep. This entire crew.
And dancing.
Fancy dancing.
And that’s exactly what they got at The Windows on Washington.
Weddings are back, y’all. And my cup is full.
