Antique 1880 lathback elm Windsor chairs
This pair of country armchairs come in forrestoration from a local farmer. He delivered them to me on his trailer along with stew, guess you can’t get much much county than that.
The chairs were made from elm with beech, the joints had become loose and required the joints to be carefully knocked apart and reglued . The chairs were then cleaned lightly and waxed with a beewax ,before given a hard wax to finish .
I didn’t want to clean green to much as they were in original condition and showing signs from years of use to the seats ,arms and backs. This job was more about conservation and restoration without over restoring . The chairs will be back in the farmhouse kitchen for years to come.
