since it's been a rough couple of days, how about Cid, Yume, Hien and Kiri on a double date? Don't judge me for over using this idea- I'M SURE HIEN AND CID WOULD GET ALONG WELL ENOUGH. Hien loves to learn and asks many questions about Cid's work even if he doesn't fully understand what any of it means. Yume and Kiri go shopping together or decide to make a big dinner!

Hey I have no problems with you throwing the double date asks at me sweetie!! I LIVE for these kind of headcanons! Let’s see...

I absolutely agree that I think Hien and Cid would get along famously! They both seem like really fun guys who’d love to just hang out together with their girls! Yeah Hien would just be super curious about what all kinds of different gadgets do and Cid would attempt to explain it to him in a way that wouldn’t just totally confuse him. He does have lots of practice in explaining things to Yume, so I think Cid would be up to the challenge.

Yume and Kiri can go shopping in Kugane and then cook a huge dinner, with all kinds of Doman and Hingan favorites!

Ahhhh I have ideas for screenies of our babies now! Thank you so much for the ask @windup-dragoon, it really helped me to clear my head this morning after the past two days.

CAN WE TALK MORE ABOUT PLATONIC STUFF??? Illya and Yotsuyu / Illya and Hien / Illya and Hilda uwu!!!!

This some good fucking food thank you. No gposes because I’m still in the middle of writing reports and like I have little to no time for self indulgence lately as it is sowwie

Illya + Yotsuyu

LOVE Yotsuyu to death, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t know how much ‘friend’ they can put into friendship if it even is possible for them. I’d like to think there’s possibilities for that, though.. since it was shown when she got her memories back after living as Tsuyu, she showed genuine regret and sadness over her actions. I will never get over that ‘i will not suffer his kindness, not after what i’ve done to him’ scene okay just slay me on the spot. Same could possibly be said for Illya since we all know she’s such an incredibly gentle and forgiving person... provided Yotsuyu proves that she’s not a threat anymore, at least. 

It’s difficult to really convince myself of a timeline where Yotsuyu just.. magically gets over years of abuse and trauma and quits her plans for revenge.. but in an ideal world where Yotsuyu survives and is willing to change and continues to live with maybe Gosetsu, then yeah definitely Illya would try to befriend her. There’d probably be something of resistance on Yotsuyu’s part, but like with Gosetsu, seeing someone she once saw an enemy treat her so kindly would probably sting her conscious a little. I’ve got a lot of ideas on how that may turn out and how Yotsuyu’s life with Gosetsu would be like if she did survive but I’ll probably save that for another post to ramble in... if anyone even cares that is.

Illya + Hien 

GSKGJSIOGJI God okay.. So during Stormblood I definitely got the feeling that Hien was constantly trying to flex and show off to Illya.. Though I didn’t get any sense it was from romantic intent of flirting. I think Hien just really wants to look cool in front of a known hero ajdfnsujfnsf, even more so if he knows it’s one of Kirishimi’s most trusted friends. Gotta make a good impression somehow.

Hien being as friendly and as much of a bro he is got Illya to open up a little more quickly to him than she did with most other people, and she definitely looks up to him being a prince who must have so many responsibilities and he clearly has a strong sense of justice and charisma. 

There’s also the fact that Hien likes to..compete with Illya somehow. Racing to see who can kill the most rampaging mobs? Competing to see who collects the most beans within a certain time? There’s no sense or reason to make everything a contest but he just does, and maybe he does it to get Illya out of her shell a little more. 

And most importantly Illya is just... genuine. She’s pure and incredibly good-natured, which is rare these days. He confides in her a lot when it comes to his past, his worries about the responsibilities he has to shoulder and of course later on, one of the few people he asks advice from when it comes to Kiri.

Illya + Hilda

MY GIRL HILDA AAAAAAAA What a wonderful character we really need more of her please. I don’t think they’d be SUPER close as friends, but definitely close enough to be able to hang out once in a while while Illya drops by Ishgard.

Their relationship started out somewhat tense at first though it’s been a while since i played hw so i can’t remember the exact details of their first meeting. And Hilda’s more forward and domineering personality definitely caused Illya to b wary and scared of her at first... ESPECIALLY since this is Heavensward Illya, who is arguably at her most emotionally vulnerable and meek in life. 

But as Hilda proved to be a reliable ally later on, I think Illya would open up a little more enough to not shrink away when they meet. It probably wouldn’t be until after the Stormblood though that Illya would probably consider Hilda a friend. 

Hilda’s also one of those who was acutely aware of Alphinaud’s growing feelings for Illya and constantly bugs them about it.

Casimir nurses a flagon of ale, staring across the table at Kirishimi who had sat down woth him. She crosses her arms, raising her eyebrows as she asks again,

“Well?” Casimir sighs, downing the ale and adding it to the ever growing pile of empty bottles.

“This means I have to adopt Hien too, doesn’t it?”

1: Who spends almost all their money on the other?

Arianna x Emet-Selch: Emet is not bound or defined by coffers, he can just make anything he wants. Arianna’s more likely to end up spending all of her own money but Emet just tosses more gil in her coffers so that doesn’t really count. She’s also more likely to spend money on materials for something handmade like a scarf or a meal. Expensive materials?

Laurelis x Haurchefant: Laurelis’ coffers are -- not boundless but they are quite expansive. She’ll move sums for Haurchefant if it makes him happy, or if she sees something she thinks he’ll like. Haurchefant is more likely to spend almost “all” his own gil but he has Fortemps and Laurelis’ own funds on his side.

2: Who sleeps in the other’s lap?

Arianna x Emet-Selch: Most often Emet sleeps with his head on Ari’s lap. Arianna usually just reads or otherwise entertains herself. It’s much like having a cat on her, after all. She’ll pet his hair or give him attention if he demands it, but usually he just sleeps. Occasionally they switch and Ari sleeps in his lap instead.

Laurelis x Haurchefant: They actually don’t do that too often, but generally they switch it up more or less evenly. They prefer to sleep against one another’s shoulders if they do nap in the day.

3: Who walks around the house half-naked and who yells at them to put on some clothes?

Arianna x Emet-Selch: Emet probably does occasionally just to fluster her. Ari looks the other direction and throws a towel or shirt, whatever is closer, at his general location.

Laurelis x Haurchefant: Haurchefant, for the same reason as Emet. Except Laurelis just finds it amusing or an excuse to playfully flirt. That being said, Ishgard is cold :V He shouldn’t do that.

Arianna x Emet-Selch: Emet holds it; he’s taller, after all.

Laurelis x Haurchefant: They argue until Laurelis finally concedes that since he is taller, Haurchefant should probably hold the umbrella. But she could have held it for them!!

Hien and complete heterochromia. Or Kiri.

It is rare to get her to lie still long enough to be able to focus on her eyes, but he has her head resting on his lap for a change. Hien threads his fingers through her hair and marvels at the difference in Kiri's eyes.

Hs is stared at by red and blue eyes wondering just what he is doing. Maybe shyness on her part because of the difference in the colors. He takes one of his hands and covers her right red eye, to focus on it. He earns her furrowing her brow.

His eyes watch as he is being watched. Blue as deep as an ocean could possibly be. Vibrant and full of life. Reflecting a gentleness in her that he sees.

He leans down and presses a quick kiss to her cheek. She looks away or tries to look away. Hien uncovers the red eye then covers the blue. There fire and bright, easy that shines through with her personality. Intimidating to others even him at first.

Hien has come to love these eyes as they're a part of the woman he has come to love endlessly. When he is done staring at her eyes separately he uncovers both and without earning ruffles her hair till she shoves his hands with a flustered swear of his name for messing it up.

A quick change and Kirishima pins him down with a smirk. Her turn. She repays him back for ruffling her hair by messing his up. Then starts to look at his light greenish eyes.

She almost mirrors him but settles on turning his head to the side to see how the light reflects. He let's her. She gives her own soft smile then pinches his face. Drawing a chuckle out of him for making her do such a thing as letting him stare at her eyes like that.

Hien sits up and tugs her into his arms and she sits with hers folded across her chest. He draws a smile out of her then gets a kiss out of her.

Whenever Cid comes up with a new idea or a solution to a problem that he's been stuck on for a while, the first thing he does is excitedly tell Yume! He even picks her up and spins her around before rushing off to tinker on his projects. Yume often helps him work through problems too simply by talking to him. Not about the project but just talking.

Headcanon Asks... OPEN!

Yes yes yes 1000%!!! Cid gets very excited when he’s made a breakthrough and she is the first one he tells because she’s the one always cheering him on and talks him through a problem. You are also right that she may not know much about engineering in particular, but she does calm him down and can be insightful, especially about looking at things from a different perspective.

Abso-fucking-lutely I am all for that!!! Okay, double date ideas...

Anything food related! Gotta have food involved somehow. Everyone loves food. I have no other details than that.

No wait, I do have a specific one! They all go eat hibachi and watch the chefs throw the knives around, throw food in everyone’s mouths, and it would just be so much fun!

How about game night? The groups could be either girls vs. boys, couple vs. couple, or a swap with Kiri and Cid on one team and Yume and Hien in another. The last one would be hilarious to me for some reason.

I also see a date with racing magitek armor or something similar. Obviously.

Actually, in a modern AU I can see a Mario Kart or Mario Party tournament happening and chaos ensuing.

And last but not least, a trip to the Gold Saucer! And yes, I think it should be more like the Gold Saucer in FFVII where it’s more of an amusement park and less of just a casino, but that’s just me! Either way, it’s a must!
