From a meta point of view as the creator of your OC, what was it that made you want to ship her with Cid? Was it by design or was it more of an unexpected chemistry coming out in game sort of thing?

Ohhhhh very good question!! And it actually comes with a funny story.

So, I’ll say first that Yume was my first OC that I actually wrote out a story for and I had started off shipping her with Alphinaud for a very short time, then I shipped her with Aymeric. Soon after I wrote out headcanons for the ship and wrote a few short fics, I realized that I actually really didn’t like Yume and Aymeric together. Inspiration ran dry really quickly and I just got really bored with it, so I dropped Aymeric like a hot potato (sorry Aymeric shippers).

I put Yume aside while I focused on other OCs and I became obsessed with Emet-Selch x Persephone (you can check out my other blog @emetspersephone for that ship). But it still really upset me that I didn’t know what to do with Yume. I still loved my girl to death but I wasn’t sure what to do with her and having no ship meant I couldn’t think of anything to write for her outside of canon stuff.

Then about a few weeks ago, I was running roulettes with @whitherliliesbloom, @invidia1988, and @countartoirel and we were in the Twinning when Illyamun mentions that Cid is highly underrated for everything he has done throughout the story and how much he has accomplished. Basically, nothing in ShB would’ve happened if it were not for Cid and the Garlond Ironworks crew. I agreed that Cid doesn’t get the credit he deserves and hardly anyone ships with him.

That’s when my gears started turning in my head. I had to come to terms with certain things... like that I always have had a crush on Cid but never liked to admit it because everyone always looks at him like he’s just a best friend type or like he’s old or something (he’s not people... he’s only 34, and only two years older than Thancred, Aymeric, and Estinien). I have a huge crush on him IRL also because he reminds me of my husband (my hubby is also an engineer, has a beard, and has a similar personality). So I had an epiphany: Cid is actually a perfect choice for Yume!

Why is that? I think their personalities are very compatible, and they have a TON in common. Like they actually both had crappy fathers, they both left their homelands behind due to their convictions, they are both labeled as traitors, and they both decided that they wanted to go to Eorzea and protect the people there, despite not being Eorzean themselves. So, I decided to explore this ship more and write my first Yume x Cid fic not long ago.

To my surprise, they had such great chemistry! And I also am replaying ARR on Yume right now, and I’m shocked at how much you can read into even in game with their interactions. I think most just don’t see it because Cid isn’t most people’s cup of tea. But I am very happy with my choice, and so far, from everyone’s feedback, I think I made the right choice. It just took me a while to get there.

double date ideas with yume, cid, hien and kiri?

Abso-fucking-lutely I am all for that!!! Okay, double date ideas...

Anything food related! Gotta have food involved somehow. Everyone loves food. I have no other details than that.

No wait, I do have a specific one! They all go eat hibachi and watch the chefs throw the knives around, throw food in everyone’s mouths, and it would just be so much fun!

How about game night? The groups could be either girls vs. boys, couple vs. couple, or a swap with Kiri and Cid on one team and Yume and Hien in another. The last one would be hilarious to me for some reason.

I also see a date with racing magitek armor or something similar. Obviously.

Actually, in a modern AU I can see a Mario Kart or Mario Party tournament happening and chaos ensuing.

And last but not least, a trip to the Gold Saucer! And yes, I think it should be more like the Gold Saucer in FFVII where it’s more of an amusement park and less of just a casino, but that’s just me! Either way, it’s a must!

Okie I got another thanks to themadchemist's ask. Family dinner headcanons for Hades, Persie, Fae and Elidibus.

Awwww this is such a cute idea!! Let’s see...

I can see Persie trying to help out Fae with the cooking (not sure how helpful she is though), while the guys are setting the table.

I see everyone getting along really well, especially because Persie and Fae already work together, so they have a lot to talk about.

Hades and Eli default and talk about their work and they go back and forth over what was already talked about during the convocation meetings. Fae and Persie just roll their eyes.

Fae and Persie’s favorite subject is how they will annoy Lahabrea at work, as they always have to be one step ahead of him now. Eli tries to tell them to behave, while Hades gives them some ideas to use.

At some point, Fae brings out the photo album to show Persie the embarrassing childhood pictures of Hades. Hades protests but Persie just goes on and on about how adorable he was.

I also imagine that Elidibus is a great storyteller, and he tells Persie some stories about how he and Fae met, how Lilith was created, and Lilith finding Hades and bringing him home with her. He then goes on to welcome her into the family, and she can’t help but cry happy tears.

OMG this is a fantastic ask!! And you are making me think! Instead of interpreting this as when they realized they were the one, as in who they wanted to marry, which is one interpretation, I’m gonna read this as when they realized that they were the one they were in love with and wanted to be with... if you don’t mind!

Yume: **Spoilers for the Love Confession Scene** For Yume, it didn’t hit her until she was trying to find the Ultima Weapon in the Praetorium. Cid said over the linkpearl “Don’t you even think about dying. You’re too bloody useful!” Of course she knew it was a joke, but it still hit her pretty hard, because it’s a particularly sore spot for her. She thinks that fighting and being used as a weapon is the only thing she is good for, since that is how she was treated back in Hingashi. So hearing those words from Cid completely broke her heart. She realized then that she had fallen in love with him, but that he didn’t feel the same way for her... or so she thought.

Cid: The moment that he realized that Yume was the one was when she and him bonded at the hot springs before they went to find the Enterprise in the Stone Vigil. She was so kind, sweet, wise, and utterly beautiful inside and out. He knew then that he had fallen for her, but he thought she was completely out of his league. So, he decided to not tell her his feelings because he didn’t want to lose her as a friend (until Yume decided to tell him first).

Persephone: For Persephone, her feelings grew over time. When it hit her that Hades was the one, she thought she could never have him. This is because she saw Hades with Lilith, his first love and who he grew up with. Fae also teased him about his feelings for Lilith and how Lilith had rejected him, and it seemed like he still had unresolved feelings for Lilith. Persephone was crushed and thought that she would only be second to Lilith at best, but she thought he would never have those feelings for her anyway. So she decides that she is going to move back to her homeland and leave Amaurot, because seeing Hades with someone else was just too painful for her, and she thought that it was time that she stopped bothering him anyway. BUT you know the rest though.

Hades: What’s funny is that you know when it was for him... and you know the results of that epiphany too. Yeah, the dumb dumb didn’t realize that Persephone was the one until he almost lost her.

What attracted Yume to Cid, and Persie To Emet? A quality, something they do, the world is your oyster!

Hmmmm, let’s see...

For Yume, she saw how sweet and kind Cid was to her during a hard time, as she was mourning her fellow Scions after the attack in the Waking Sands. He was struggling himself with his amnesia, but he was selfless and cared for her well-being when she needed it most. That spoke volumes for her. She also became intrigued when Alphinaud announced that Marques was actually the legendary engineer Cid Garlond, and she just had to know more about him. She was hooked after that.

For Persephone, that’s a very complicated question.

Back in her past life, when she first came to Amaurot, she went to have her concept for a goobbue approved by the Bureau of the Architect and met Hades there. She was automatically attracted to his voice and what she could see of his face underneath his mask.

He initially declined her concept, on the grounds that he saw no useful purpose for the creature. But she gave a passionate plea as to what is truly “useful”? She rhetorically asked him “Then how are we useful? Wouldn’t our star still exist even if we no longer existed? Wouldn’t life go on without us?”

She then fell for him when she saw how he wasn’t too proud to admit that she had convinced him to reconsider, and he reversed his decision and approved her concept.

For Persie in the present, it was very much more complicated, as she really couldn’t understand why she felt so attracted to an ASCIAN. She knew he was her enemy, but she couldn’t help but find him physically attractive, she could listen to him talk for a long time, and she oddly found him quite kind in his own way. She noticed that he seemed to be quite taken with her in particular, which also made her more intrigued.

Oh wow, this is an awesome idea!! I had to really think about it. I’m gonna write these out as if all of them are there, as it’s easier for me, but this could be split up into either couple how you wish. But here’s some ideas for you:

I have no idea why this popped into my head, but I want to see a race up from the base of the Crystal Tower, all the way to the top by Xande’s Throne. Now, there’d be some rules: G’raha can’t use his teleporting magic, Hades can’t use his powers, and Cid can’t use any kind of device whatsoever. Other than that, it’s the first to the top! (Though I can see some crazy shenanigans going down anyway, accusations of cheating, etc.)

Since tomorrow is Halloween, I’d love to see them all go to a Haunted House! Now I also think Hades would prank the others by his teleporting in and out in the dark without the others seeing him. There could be other Halloween events too!

I also think that like doing a murder mystery game would be fun! You know, someone is “the murderer” and the others have to figure out who it is. Kind of a real life Clue scenario.

Speaking of which, I think them all playing Among Us would be hilarious! It would be fun to watch that kind of chaos go down.

Wait, you just want me to go on forever blabbing about my new ship that I can’t stop getting a million ideas for?? Well sweetie, you asked for it!!

Here’s some totally random headcanons:

I feel like Cid would be a great cook. Why? Well as someone who is brilliant at putting things together and making it work, I imagine that he can also do the same with food. He knows what ingredients work well together and how to make the most of whatever is left in his cabinet.

Yume, on the other hand, knows certain recipes from Hingashi very well, but is not great when it comes to Eorzean cuisine. There are many ingredients that Yume isn’t even familiar with, let alone trying to cook with them. So of the two, I think Cid would be the better cook.

Cid’s hugs are the best because he wraps his strong, muscular arms around you and cuddles like he’s a big teddy bear. And it’s so comforting to Yume that it gets hard trying to sleep when he’s not there to cuddle with.

I imagine that Cid always shows Yume all of his new gadgets in order to get her impression of them. He knows that she will be honest with him and she will give him that outsider’s perspective that he needs.

I feel like they are just drawn together due to being kindred spirits. Both have left their respective homelands because they disagreed with how the people in charge treated those around them and so they both wanted to have better lives for themselves and to do good in the world.

They also both have amazing abilities that they seemed to inherit from their parents and they try to use their unique skills to help make the world a better place.

Yume sometimes gets low self-esteem due to her feeling like the only thing she is good at is fighting. Yet, Cid is there to remind her that there is so much more to her that many don’t see on the surface. For example, Yume is actually a talented poet, but Cid is one of the only people who knows that she writes poetry.

And here’s a NSFW one: I feel like they would be into toys... especially ones that Cid makes himself. 👀

Ohhhhh yes, the beard! 😏

It’s so majestic, so soft, so manly! Yume very much loves Cid’s beard, as it makes him look so masculine, distinguished, and mature. She loves to run her hands through it.

It also tends to be somewhat ticklish... in certain places. 👀
