a slow smile   spreads  across her lips as josie turns the corner.    with too much ease ,   toni lifts and moves the heavy sound system further upstage.    she finds something about josie’s surprised laugh incredibly soothing,  instead of jarring to wolf ears.    ❛❛   i think you can   officially   call me a groupie ,   miss mccoy .     or is it first name only ?    a sort of   beyonce post destiny’s child   type thing ?   ❜❜

          “all the time, huh?”       brows raised, river held up the item in question, disintegration by the cure on vinyl, apparently not a copy from its original release as advertised. while he was disappointed to hear that it wasn’t what he’d thought, he was very impressed that she’d been able to tell so easily. he cracked a tiny smile, looking at it again to see if there were any glaring indicators that its value was not actually what was posted. “how could you tell?” he asked, almost incredulously, not seeing anything out of the ordinary himself but believing her apparent expertise completely. “i mean, i absolutely would’ve wasted the money on this — that’s actually really impressive you caught it.”

sofia can officially say that she’s more well-travelled than anybody she knows  —  it’s hard to be more well-travelled than space. fucking space. for a moment, it almost seems poetic: being returned to the place her powers (or more accurately, curse) came from, except without all the chitauri. so no aliens! except  —  yeah, she is in space, so there can’t be very many humans. so, very many aliens. at least this alien speaks english, apparently. 

“  it’s kind of a long story  ...  i swear i’m not here to cause trouble though, i just  —  i need to get back to earth, do you know where i could  ...  do that?  ”    as the words trip out of her mouth, the trouble she’s found herself in really settles over her, the blood rapidly rushing out of her face and sending her head into a spin.    “  ooh, dizzy. not fun. relax  —  breathe.  ”

for once, their meeting comes in silence  —  no rubble, no gunfire, just her fading and darkness dripping down the walls surrounding her. at first, she doesn’t know why she’s there. her fade has never brought her to peace before; always chaos, always panic. but she can’t control it, and the only thing left to do is wait it out until she goes back home.

rafael  had  a  small  smile  on  his  face,  it  wasn’t  the  most  genuine  smile  out  there,  but  it  was  something.  kym  made  rafael  feel  normal,  and  he  absolutely  loved  that.  he  was  so  down  on  himself,  and  it  had  been  causing  him  to  be  on  the  edge  of  a  transformation  almost  all  the  time.  ❝  i’m  trying,  ❞  he  tells  her,  biting  his  lip  before  looking  at  her,  ❝  it’s  just...  ❞  he  hesitates,  ❝  since  i  was  all  wolf,  i  can’t  seem  to  shake  the  animal.  ❞
