Summary:

“I survived because the fire inside me burned brighter than the fire around me.”

Izuku’s has been abused for all of his life. By his father, by his childhood friend, Izuku has felt the burn. It burned and burned until it became numb. It burned and burned until it became fuel.

It burned until Izuku himself burned in the flames.

Quirkless. Useless. Deku. That’s what he has been called, taunted, mocked. But that wasn’t the truth. He did have a quirk. He knew since that one day where he was coated in flames.

Izuku took the heat for many years. Now it’s time to let it loose.

   It’d felt like years since Rose had seen anyone as they once had been. Gem monsters roamed and for each shortly lived fight, she had to live with the knowledge these were once her friends and allies. A handful of others simply being poor gems who got caught up in the blast radius of the horrid sound that had ruined them... Loyal to Homeworld, yet betrayed by them.

   For them, her heart ached, too. She was still fighting to see if there was a way to bring them back to their old forms, but... So far, no luck. Would... Would they really be stuck like this forever? Unable to get their original forms back? No amount of tears would help them, so.... What else could be done?

   Looking up to the sky, Rose found herself freezing in place, staring up at...glimmering wings? Something that should very well not be flying. As well as it definitely wasn’t any kind of normal-looking bird...

   So she’d launch herself up and right beside what appeared to be some odd sort of gem corruption to get some answers. Hopefully some actual ones, since this one didn’t seem too hurt...?

   Apatite hadn't been on Earth long- well. Actually they had been on earth for thousands years, just poofed and stuck unable to reform. But that doesn't really matter right now; as they're currently wandering trying not to be caught. By whom? Oh really anyone.

   The former homeworlder had been speaking lowly to themself, head tilted towards the ground. Mumbling about things they remembered. And how they need to find.. another gem that was hard to make the name of out- Until they ran right into a tree that is. That sure was a loud yelp and thud.

Rose’s eyes widened, a look of haunted fright paling over her face as she looked at the Gem warrior before her. It had been thousands of years, and still she remembered each and every one of the soldiers that had fought along side her for Earth’s safety and freedom. 

“Angel...” she breathed, from between her fingers. “Angel Aura Quartz...”

The Gem had disappeared long ago, longer than Rose could even fathom with everything that had happened in the War. She’d thought - she’d never expected - 

“You... your gem.”

“Maybe,” Druze murmured as he folded his arms on his knees and rested his chin on them. “But it’s more than just forgetting. I don’t know how to describe it. I think the worst bit is the grief. I don’t even know where it comes from, but I know it has something to do with the word ‘brother’. Something tragic.”

He lifted his head and scrubbed his feathery face with a sigh. “Ahh, look at me rambling on like this,” he groaned and looked over at his fellow amnesiac. “Thank you for listening to me Angel. I can’t tell you how good it is to have someone else to confide in. I’m sure you’ve had your own lucid moments, eh?”

It probably wasn’t best for Sunstone to be travelling so close to the edge of the cliff he was on, especially considering how slippery it was. Oh well, if worst came to worst he’d slip and fall a bit, either hurting himself or, if he was high enough, poof himself. Still, he was confident that he would manage to catch himself or at least be able to save himself from a fall in some way. Regardless, the height offered him a great view of the ocean, which in his eyes made it all worth it. 

Deciding to take a break, he stopped himself in front of a cave, letting his legs dangle off the edge. He sighed with content, pulling out a sandwich to munch on as he watched the waves below.
