I finally posted a fic on AO3!

And I managed to do it before the end of the month like I was hoping!

Behold! My Wingfeather Saga/Sons of Yocheved (my original story) crossover/AU! I'm starting it in book 3 of WFS, but most of the book will be set in my story world.

I wanted to post it before the end of the month partly in honor of Disability Pride Month. It features a boy with unilateral hearing loss, chronic migraines, and a couple other maybe-disabilities; a crippled girl who walks with a crutch; a boy I headcanon to have ADHD; and later in the story, an autistic girl.

Summary:

Everything seemed to be going fine for the WIngfeathers in the Green Hollows. But then a set of siblings from another world appear in their house. Which is fine... until all six kids get teleported into the world of the other siblings.

Featuring siblings being siblings, a growing collection of traumatized kids from two different worlds, much confusion about the existence of half-wolf people, run-ins with alligators, an occasional swimming trip (without alligators), protective older siblings who just really want (and need) a break, certain younger siblings occasionally going missing, and possible attempts to overthrow an evil regime.

(unfortunately this first chapter doesn't include the Wingfeathers. They'll show up in the next chapter. Which I will hopefully post in the next week.)

EPIC x The Wingfeather Saga stuff

Little Wolf = Kal in the Hollows.

(Young!)Podo and Yurgen = Ody and Poseidon. Yurgen and Poseidon are both the ones who basically rule over the sea and Podo and Ody both hurt their kids and were the captains of a ship.

Luck Runs Out = Janner (as Eurylochus) and Kalmar (as Ody). A little thing to mention is that Kal and Ody both have more authority in the end as they’re both the one in charge.

I Can’t Help But Wonder = Esben meeting his kids.

And the best one imo:

Would You Fall in Love with Me Again = Artham and Arundelle reuniting (or I feel like this would be their conversation post-canon). Ahhhh this would be a FIREEE animatic.

Got a question for my fellow Featherheads:

Just how good do you think Kalmar's sense of smell was as a Fang? Like how far out can he smell things?

Early in book 3, he could smell what the Hollowfolks were cooking on their ships before they were close enough for anyone else to see anyone on the Hollowfolk's ships. Those ships could have easily been a mile or more away. But being out on the water, there's not a whole lot else to smell besides things on their own ship and regular sea smells.

In book 4, he could smell some Ridgerunners a couple (three I think?) hills away. I'm not quite sure how far "three hills" away is, but probably at least a mile.

Those are the top two times I remember it mentions him smelling things quite a ways away. I don't currently have book 4 to check other scenes.

But can he literally just smell everything in like a mile radius? Not to mention hearing everything really well. Sounds like sensory overload. Poor kid
