“You can’t know that! You’re asleep when you snore,” Ciel pointed out and huffed. How come did his father not know even that much?

It was dark in his father’s bedroom - and quiet, now that he had woken up and stopped snoring. Ciel’s little brother was still sleeping soundly on his father’s right side whilst Ciel had occupied the left, squirming to get comfortable and poking at his father’s bare leg with small cold toes.

“No...!” Ciel whined. “I don’t know how he can sleep when you’re so loud. I think I’m just more sensitive than him.” He reached over to pinch his father’s nose.

Alois had been walking for a full day, now. He couldn’t take it anymore. He wasn’t going to spend another night in the manor, another night in his bed. He hadn’t realized until hours after he left that his feet were carrying him in the direction of the Phantomhive manor.

He knew the twins relatively well, his “father” often ditching him at the manor for the weekend so that he could build up a reputation as the heir to the Trancy estate. It was a relief to him, two days without that wretched man, and getting to associate with other children.

It was three in the morning when he finally stepped up to the door. It had begun to rain within the past two hours. He was drenched from head to toe, barely able to see as the water ran down his face, clinging to his lashes. His feet were aching, and he knew they would be blistered horribly. He could barely stand, and had thought he would faint for certain an hour ago. Yet, here he was. He grabbed the knocker, lifting it and letting it bang against the door twice. He could only hope someone might answer. Deciding to raise the odds, he spoke up.

“Hello? Please let me in...it’s Alois, Alois Trancy!”

Marie-Joseph grumbled under her breath, yanking at the suffocating layers of frills and ruffles restricting her movement. She was the Prévôté de l'Hôtel. Why she had to don a dress while the big wigs entertained each other’s egos was beyond her. Even worse was the fact that she was responsible for the safety of these shitfucks. She was working, and she couldn’t even wear a sword properly with the panniers getting in the way.

“Don’t let those breasts rid you of reason, monsieur.” She spoke up as she neared a foreign gentleman standing at the side of the chamber. “That’s Madame du Barry, the King’s mistress. If you put your hand on her tonight, Marie will be the one collecting your head tomorrow.”

"At least twelve! Come down here! I can't reach you right." Ciel laughed until his father hunched over just to receive half a dozen kisses. It got a little tiring for his lips after a while. ”How many is it, dad? Keep count.”

Ever since their safe arrival to Germany, Ciel had refused to leave his father’s side. He damanded to be bathed together, fed together, to fall asleep together and to wake up together. No one else was allowed to touch him or even to start a conversation with him, or they were encountered by an enraged adolescent.

If he could have been called a clingy child when he had been eight or so, he was now twice as bad. In a way, he was also doing his little brother’s work when it came to demanding his father’s attention and care, but mostly it was because Vincent symbolised the only hope he had for the world. After the initial sobbing fits and violent outbursts of anger and sorrow had ceased, he had become determined to to hold on to the last remaining thing his little heart could bring itself to care about - his father.

Only waking up before his father did and making sure he was still there with him could make him start his day. He watched his sleeping face quietly, small fingers stroking his hair in a similar manner as he had stroked his brother’s when he had been bedridden and feverish, clumsy but gentle. The movement did not case when his father stirred, but there was a surprised little smile on the child’s face.

“Good morning, dad,” he said, snuggling up against his side when he carressed his cheek. Seeing his eyes open and mouth speak gentle words had convinced him that his father had, indeed, not changed or passed away overnight.

He draped a small leg over his waist, clinging on him like a small monkey or a baby koala.

“I don’t want to get up,” he whispered against his father’s shoulder. “If we’re really quiet, they won’t come and get us.”

Claudia was sitting at the sunny terrace, resting with closed eyes and listening birds singing somewhere among rose bushes in the garden when suddenly soft lips covered her in a gently kiss.

The woman smiled to herself not needing to see the attacker to know who he is. They were one soul and one heart. Mother and son. Ancestor and heir.

Her dearest of treasures: Vincent. The only person who knew almost everything about her and secret missions they slowly started to share. Such things bond people even tighter than normal parent-child relationship. Not every mother has to teach her son how to kill and manipulate others for own advantages… and good of England.

“Mmm… I wish every morning begin like that” she purred finally opening her eyes to look at the young man. “You know how to make me happy. Did you even sleep? Tanaka said that you left the manor very early. I asked you to not sniffing around alone, especially that the case we are working on is very dangerous. We are a team, darling, and we should guard each other’s back”.

She scolded him, but in a loving tone, cuddling own cheek to his warm palm.

my opinion on;

character in general: Vincent Phantomhive was in the beginning showed as a perfect, handsome daddy and Earl who lived in idyllic relationship with his wife Rachel. So… boooooring. I was sure Yana will use this character only as something what can push OCiel for seeking his revenge. Last years, though, uncovered more layers of “daddy Phantomhive” which interested me. Especially when the Undertaker has noticed that OCiel isnt like his ancestors (he returned to rescue other student life from zombie’s claws). This suggest Claudia and Vincent were people whose souls weren’t pure and innocent and made me more curious about true (and probably more dark) Vincent’s face.

how they play them: Dine’s Vincent is perfect writing partner for my Claudia and have a great potential for writing a criminal story from Queen’s Watchdog world. He is ambitious, cunning and dangerous, but also funny and sympathetic. I dream about making our muses relationship deep and complicated, because Claudia probably was the person who had driven her son into underworld and taught him that what he needed to know as future secret agent. They both have the secret life that details can’t be told even to the closest family. Only the head of the house and the heir - like two predators.

the mun: Dine is wild. And I adore her in her madness :D She jumps between her muses like a rabbit, easily slipping into their skin. Sebastian, BAM, Vincent, BAM, Dietrich, BAM, Alois, Druitt and now also Wolfram. I’m not even sure if those are all. Dine has endless energy and inspires me a lot. Her mind probably works so fast I am surprised it has caused no fire yet. I wish to have Dine in my everyday internet life, because she is as treasure as Sammy.

When I see Dine writing anything to me I have a stupid smiling face.

She has so delicious dirty mind.

I need that wilderness in my life.

She is a genius like Sammy. Writing skills and ideas blow my mind.

DEATHLESS ♚ SENTENCE MEME

Husband and wife laid in bed, propped into a seated position by pillows when such tragic words shattered the peaceful silence encompassing their room. Vincent inched closer to a nervous breakdown with each preposterous request the Queen assigned him. It tore Rachel’s heart asunder to watch the man she loved grow numb to the pain. There was little she could do to reassure him because of her powerlessness, but perhaps a distraction could ward off the negative thoughts that plagued him on a daily basis. Reaching towards him, the countess took his hand in her own, guiding the back of it to her lips. Soft tiers placed kisses upon his skin, gracing every knuckle with a peck.

❝ I am gravely sorry I cannot chase away your worries, my love. However, your body that wears blood and death also evokes life and love. You taught me how to love, and soon we will bring life into this world. A life that will no doubt cherish their father as I do. ❞  

Rachel placed his hand on her stomach, many months round with child. A small smile spread across her features while the infant within shifted, kicking against Vincent’s palm. She continued to reassure her husband in a hushed tone, reminding herself to not disturb the baby.  ❝ This child will be quite rambunctious, just like you in your youth. Though there are times when life is unbearable, we must motivate ourselves to remain hopeful for our little one’s sake. ❞

Once again, the countess directed his hand, trailing it upwards until it reached her heart. Her blue eyes gazed fondly at Vincent, a blush coloring her cheeks when heat rushed to her face. Professions of love were common between the two, yet Rachel could not help the shyness she felt while she professed their wedding vows.

❝ As long as there is a heart beating in my chest, I will love you unconditionally. I swore to devote my life to you and I intend to follow up on that promise. You give me so much more than you realize; so much more than I believed I would ever deserve. You keep a roof over my head, put food on our plates, and now you bless me with a family. You give me a reason to live. ❞
