Winter Animal Coasters
This is a set of six coasters with a winter animal theme. Featuring a deer, a squirrel, an owl, a hedgehog, a fox, and a dove. Three have preserved moss inclusions and additional little decorations.
These were made in layers of resin, so not all are the same height. The first layer consists of clear resin and the stickers. The second layer is resin mixed with glitter, as is the third layer. A white background is painted over the back so the front shows up well and the cork glued on the back doesn’t turn it darker.
Since the silicon mold I used was matte, it made the coasters cloudy when they first came out. To make them clear here, I used two methods to do this (two methods for two batches of coasters). The first was to paint over a clear water based gloss varnish, which needed more layers coated on, but gave it a flat surface. In the second method I used more clear resin and in a single layer, which ever so slightly domed the center but not so much to disturb a mostly flat looking surface.
