WinterFalcon Week 2021

The prompt results for WinterFalcon Week have finally been tallied, and it's time to kick off this fanweek celebrating our favourite MCU duo! But first, a quick reminder on the rules and guidelines of this challenge.

WinterFalcon Week will run from the 19th-25th of August 2021, a.k.a. exactly five months after the airing of the first episode of TFATWS. Creation time starts as soon as you've got your prompts - which is to say, as soon as you finish reading this post. We'd like this to be a fun, relaxed challenge for everyone, so there is plenty of time to create an epic creation.

Furthermore, we will not be enforcing deadlines very strictly at all - so if you do happen to miss a day or two, absolutely no stress. We will keep reblogging Winterfalcon content right through to the end of the year! Meanwhile, you are free to complete as few or as many of the prompts as you want, and you can submit as many or as few creations per day as the muse inspires.

Any and all types of creative fanwork - fic, art, gifsets, photo edits, video edits, and more - are welcomed in this fanweek! The only criterion is that it must be centred around the MCU pairing of Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.

There are no content restrictions for this challenge - NSFW, dark, or otherwise uncomfortable topics are accepted - however, we require any such content to be clearly identified in your title/summary/blurb and placed under a read-more cut, so that those who aren’t comfortable with seeing it can avoid it.

When you've finished your creation and you're ready to share it with the WinterFalcon world, @ this blog and use #winterfalconweek2k21 in your first five tags so we can find and reblog your work. Don't forget to add what day of the prompt week your creation is fulfilling!

Writers, we've created an AO3 Collection where you can post your fanfiction for ease of access - you can find it on the Archive as winterfalconweek_2k21.

WinterFalcon Week 2021

Today is the 19th of May 2021, and exactly two months ago, the first episode of Marvel’s The Falcon Captain America and the Winter Soldier was released. Why is the fact that it’s two months ago significant? Well, because as SamBucky fans worldwide know, our duo interacted for the first time in the second episode. So here we are to commemorate these two with a tradition as old as fanworks themselves, probably: a prompt week in Sam and Bucky’s honour!

Intrigued? Here’s what else you need to know: 

WinterFalcon Week will be making use of prompts you, the fans, choose and send in. We’re taking prompt submissions for the remainder of May as well as the first half of June, closing on the 19th. For guidelines on how to submit your prompt, check out our handy submission guide here! 

Voting for prompts will then subsequently open on the same day, and will run through to the end of the month, closing on the 30th. The seven prompts with the most votes at the end of that period will be the seven we’re going to use for the prompt week. 

Preparation starts as soon as the prompts are released! We want this to be a relaxed, enjoyable challenge for everyone involved, so there’s loads of time to prepare your fanwork, with the official dates for posting being August 19th-25th 2021. Any particular reason why it’s those dates? Well, the 19th of August is exactly five months after the first episode aired, and, well, we all know what happens in episode 5... it’s a fan favourite for a reason, and we have a theme to keep here, okay?

There will be an AO3 collection set up a little closer to the day, which writers can post their fics to for ease of access. (If you forget any of this, no worries, we’ll be reminding you in detail again once the time draws near!)

One last thing: the strictness of the daily deadlines. We have good news for all of you who (relatably) run late for everything - we will keep accepting submissions inspired by the WinterFalcon Week prompts right through till the end of the year. We’re here to encourage and inspire you to create SamBucky content, not to stress you out with draconian deadlines.

Prompt Voting Now Open!

Thank you very much to everyone who pitched in and submitted a prompt! Can we just say, we have an absolutely incredible list this year, and we can't wait for this week to kick off, no matter which prompts you guys end up picking.

A few quick rules and guidelines before we get into it:

There were thirty-six amazing prompts submitted through the course of the past month, all of which have been collected into a list in a Google Form. Voters, please pick your favourite seven out of these.

Voting will be done through an open Google Form, so it is technically possible to submit a hundred consecutive responses for your favourite prompts. However, we're hoping that nobody has that level of... investment (and that much free time, ngl). This is a prompt week for the fans, and we're trusting that you, the fans, will play along, be reasonable with our form, and let it be fun for everyone.

Voting will be open as of now until the 1st of July, at which point your mods will tally up the votes and determine the top seven most popular prompts. These seven will then be your final prompts for the prompt week!

Creation time begins as soon as the final seven prompts are released. The prompt week itself won't start until the 19th of August, but we wanted to make sure that everyone has more than enough time to create the content they want to. This isn't the kind of challenge to rush you and put pressure on you - we want it to be as fun as possible for everyone involved! Winterfalcon for the win, after all.

Ahem. So we mods had a... slight... miscommunication over who would be putting up the final post and covering late submissions, and with the school year starting up again, things got very crazy very fast for all of us. But we have since resolved those snags, and we're here to give you, Winterfalconers - all of you - a TREMENDOUS thank you!

You guys made this challenge something spectacular - you blew us away with the incredible content you created for each prompt! We couldn't be prouder of the way the first WinterFalcon Week turned out. And to everyone who reblogged, commented and supported - you are just as amazing! Without you, this challenge wouldn't have been nearly as fun. So thank you very, very much, too!

Special thanks to @jemmablossom, the creator of our beautiful banner this year! This fanwork's mod posts wouldn't have been half as appealing without you, that's for sure. We really appreciate you!

And lastly: as we've mentioned in our original post, we will not be enforcing the final fanweek dates very strictly. Which is to say - if you missed the fanweek and wish you had the chance to participate, or if you just had another cool idea, then by all means, please send them in to us! We will be only too happy to reblog it and share more content about our favourite boys. Reblogs might take a little longer due to all three mods being busy with jobs and/or kids, but rest assured, your content is still more than welcome here!
