ROTG Fanart: Pitch Black

This was the last picture in my fourth sketchbook. Nearly a year since I started learning to draw! And I made Pitch look like a gorgeous Drag Queen. (Yes, I headcanon this, yes I already have drafts in my WIP regarding this)

Looking back, I honestly think my biggest regret was just not taking the extra time to clean up/erase outside lines and avoiding spending money on a blender. They're like five dollars. How did I draw for a year without a blender???

HTTYD Fanart: Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III

It only makes sense, with an obsession with drawing Jack Frost, that Hiccup was close behind. I really struggled with Hiccup, and I think that was largely because the animation was more realistic. He is one that I would be interested to try later this year to see the difference in my capabilities.

For example, I finally managed to buy a blender.

Okay, this was a big photo for me! I was really excited that my body mapping was improving. I actually left some of my lines on purpose because I was big proud.

This was an image I was scared to share because I thought “what if this was my peak? What if nothing gets better from here?” And like, I still feel like that sometimes, but I just need to keep telling myself I’ll get better. Because every now and then I surprise myself and then act like a damn child with my sketchbook ‘LOOK WHAT I MADE’.

Here’s another image showing my progression into art. In some ways, it feels like I got a lot worse? But I also need to remember that before April I couldn’t draw anything recognizable, so maybe I’ll just celebrate where I can :)

Yuri!!! On Ice Fan Art:

Victor Nikiforov

I love how beautiful of a character Victor is. I definitely need to start drawing more of Yuri instead of being a piece of sketches (will share some more Victuuri drawings once they’re ready for the human eye!!!)

Also, probably something weird with me, I love the beauty of sleeping people. As soon as I saw this I had to snap a picture to recreate it. He’s just so fierce and beautiful, and those facts remain true when he’s asleep, but those elements are subdued into a softer angelic form. *My* drawing might not show that, but the original does an amazing job of it!!

The last two pages of my very first sketchbook are taunting me. I know that it makes absolutely no difference to anyone but me, but I feel like I need to end the book off with pieces that require effort, whether they’re garbage or not. But I also want to share my progression. It’s really a toss up which is less intimidating; which ends up shutting me down and staring at the last two pages!!! AHHH!!!!

I’m debating having a different page just to talk more about learning about drawing, but I don’t know? It’s been such a wild experience and it’s only been a month and a half. I’m really excited to see how drawing continues to further connect me to characters in the future!

Luka Couffaine - Miraculous Ladybug

I wanted to do a few things to “age him up” and make him look a bit more alternative.

I made a list of things I did differently and my current process in learning to draw! Started at the beginning of April and still going strong 💪

First, most obviously, is the clef tattoo on his neck, bigger stretched ears, and additional piercings.

Second, details such as a less pointed chin and a sharper jawline.

Third, I did his eyes more anime style because I like them better 😅

Fourth, there is a speck that looks like it could be an additional piercing above his lip. That is in fact a piece of lead. Oops.

I swear my sketchbook is going to be full by the end of April. So far I’ve only been posting faces (which are obviously still that of a level 2 drawer 😂) but I’ve been working on something different everyday. Different body parts and up to one still life every day. There are so many things to work at in drawing, but I can guarantee you, for those who aren’t talented (like meeeee) it’s all a matter of hard work.
