wildest dreams (rivetra pwp)
Levi Ackerman was a light sleeper.
Although he has been getting better sleep and resting well ever since he started sharing his bed with one Petra Ral, there were still nights when sleep would not come easy and any slight noise he hears would rouse him from his slumber.
And tonight was one of those nights.
It started with Petra accidentally kicking him on the shin in her sleep.
Levi's eyes fluttered open, turning on his side to look at her under the low lamplight in his room.
Petra was wearing nothing but her underwear and one of his old thin shirts that were nearly translucent due to its age, she was also on her side facing him but her eyes were closed and soft deep breaths came from her parted lips, signifying her deep slumber. Half her body was covered with his sheets, which she started pulling away from him in her sleep with a twist of her leg, bunching up the fabric around and in between them.
Curious, Levi kept his eyes trained on her face. She was still fast asleep. And dreaming. The movement of her eyes beneath her lids was proof enough.
The corner of his lips quirks to a smile, wondering what on earth she was dreaming about. Perhaps she's dreaming of killing titans.
Levi inched closer, brushing stray strands of her hair away from her face and moving to plant a kiss on her forehead but pauses when he hears it.
A whimper.

Hey there, I see youre asking for prompts and I had this idea a few nights ago: the survey corps soldiers are in a mandatory ball or smth like that for the military, and Levi sees the guys that hires him to kill Erwin all those years ago and he gets super pissed (because if he hadnt entered the corps he probably would have been sentenced to death for all his crimes, and then this rich guy plots to kill a high ranking military and a few years later he is free and partying like nothing ever happened.) Everybody sees he is in a sour mood, and Petra aproaches him to ask why and comfort him, whether he tells her what happened or not.
Anon, I'm so sorry it took me months. 🥺👉🏼👈🏼
I hope you like it!

Levi Ackerman hated going to Mitras for precisely two reasons.
One, he hates the rich, snobby people of the upper class.
And two, he hates parties.
And just socializing in general.
Talking to people makes his head hurt. And one of the main reasons that the Scouting Legion even goes to Mitras is, well, for number 2. And if number 2 is the reason why they’re being summoned to the capital then most likely number 1 is involved as well.
And well, you could say that Levi Ackerman will be having the worst time of his life. Thinking about schmoozing up to the rich - and expecting to dance with them with his two left feet - is making him wish he’d be eaten alive by a titan instead.

Special thanks to @capitainelevi for this amazing mood board! 🥰💖 Rating: Explicit
The letter arrives with a strong gust of wind that had him feeling giddy and lonely at the same time. He briefly wonders how such a thing could be as he accepts the letter from the messenger of the gods.
"Can't wait for the season to end?" They ask him as they adjust the goggles over their eyes.
"Yes," he admits, a small smile forming at his lips.
The other god grimaces, "It's weird seeing you smile."
He doesn't smile much but the thought of his wife always brings him inexplicable joy. He would have clapped back at them but he knows his wife would not approve of him insulting the younger god.
"Did she say anything?"
"Only that she misses you," they wink at him before taking flight and disappearing with the wind.
He says his thanks to the wind and before long Cerberus is beside him, barking and jumping in excitement - its tail wagging from side to side and almost knocking over the tall vase his wife loves putting flowers in.
He shushes the hound and pets its three heads as he walks to his throne room. Once seated on his throne of skulls and bones, he presses the letter to his nose and inhales.
The parchment smells faintly of her and he is once again reminded of how lonely he is without her.
With trembling fingers, he opens the letter.

"Stay safe. Do your best at work today."
Levi says as he wraps an arm around his wife's waist and kisses her cheek, all the while bouncing their little girl on his hip.
"I'll be home before dad and the boys come over," Petra says as she bends to adjust the fit of her heels, and Levi can't help but smack her ass, earning a yelp from his wife and a giggle from his daughter.
"Mama's butt!"

This is how Petra Ral confesses.
The year is 447 and the Special Operations Squad is on a mission in titan-infested Wall Maria.
Petra miscalculates a turn and a titan swung at her with its massive hand. She screams and soon the rest of the squad are on their way to help her but they are not fast enough.
The titan dangles her on its fingers and drops her inside its gaping maw.
She lands on its tongue and she scrambles to her feet immediately. If this is how she dies, she will not die without a fight. With a determined cry, she drives her swords at the roof of the titan's mouth with all her strength. Hot steam fills the titan's cavernous mouth as thick titan blood drips from its palate down on her raised arms and shoulders.
The scorching heat of the steam stings her eyes and each breath she takes is agonizing, the hot vapor making her lungs burn. The titan’s blood continues to pour on her head and drip on her face, making it even harder to breathe. Petra’s vision blurs at the edges as she struggles to stay on her feet, the titan’s tongue becoming slick with the mixture of its own blood and saliva.
Petra slips and almost slides down its throat as the titan tries to swallow her but she is quick to fire her cables on its tongue to keep her grounded. She grits her teeth as she tries to keep her balance, fatigue already creeping in on her. Her arms burn from the strain of trying to keep the titan’s jaws open. She can feel herself losing consciousness fast, her eyelids drifting shut against her will.
And the last thing Petra hears is her captain calling her name over the roar of the titan's screams.
When she forces her eyes open again, her vision is hazy and yet she sees Levi’s face before her - clear as day. She thinks that she must have died - it’s the only possible explanation of his presence before her. He is so close, she can see all the lines that worry his face. She wants to cup his face in her hands and smooth the lines away and if she cranes her neck just so she will be able to kiss him.
Just one kiss... Just one…
Her eyes flutter close as she tilts her head closer but before her lips can even brush against his, she is jolted back to her senses when a strong arm wraps around her waist and gives her a hard pull.
“Petra, let go!”
It is Levi’s voice, stern and commanding in her ear.
Her eyes snap open, her vision focusing on him and him alone.
“Let go of your blades, Ral! And release your cables!” He barks at her as he drives one of his swords into the titan's tongue to anchor himself. He spares his cables - their only means of escape.
“Get out, Captain! You shouldn’t be here!” She screams back at him as he continues to tug at her but Petra stays rooted in place.
If she moves, the titan's mouth will close and they will both die. If she doesn't, he could save himself. If she doesn't, she could save him.
"Let go, Petra! That is an order, soldier!"
She shakes her head. She will not allow him to die trying to save her.
"I love you, Captain Levi. I can not allow you to die," Petra says as she pecks his cheek and with the last of her strength, she twists out of his arm, planting her foot in his abdomen, and kicks him out of the titan's mouth.
Petra lets go.
***
Levi stumbles out of the titan's maw and Eld flies from his position to catch him midair.
"Where's Petra?!"
He can hear Eld ask but he does not understand anything that comes from the other man's mouth. There is only anger inside him - his vision going red with rage.
They land on a nearby roof as Oluo and Gunther slice clean through the tendons and ligaments of the titan’s shoulders, its arms falling to the ground with a loud thud.
Levi snarls at Eld to let him go but the other man’s hold on him is a vice grip. Eld knows by the look of anguish on his captain’s face that Petra did not make it. His throat closes and he tightens his hold on Levi even more as the smaller man tries to get out of his grip.
He lost Petra today, he will not lose his captain as well.
Levi orders Eld to let him go and threatens to dismiss him from his squad but the other man does not loosen his hold on him. Levi is left with no choice but to bite the arm of his subordinate hard and elbow him in the stomach. Eld crumples on the roof and Levi makes his escape fast.
I need to save Petra.
He flies by Oluo as Gunther slices at the titan’s nape. The titan stumbles to the ground with a deafening sound, its body lifeless and unmoving.
But Levi is not done with it yet.
It is avenging Farlan and Isabel’s death all over again.
There is a fury he cannot control and Levi goes berserk. He screams and hacks and slices at the titan’s body. Steam and blood raining all around him.
He slices open its stomach last.
He needs to see her again. One last time.
And when Levi pulls Petra’s limp body out of the titan’s gut, he thinks that he is too late.
He carries her and flies her to the roof where the rest of the squad was. They watch mournfully as Levi lays her body down gently on the tiled roof. Tears flow freely down his cheeks as he presses his face to her chest, desperately trying to listen for her heartbeat over the pounding of his own in his ears.
He listens for what seems like an eternity and when he hears the faint beating of her heart, he pumps her chest so aggressively that he is certain he must have broken a couple of her ribs. He will apologize to her later - first, she has to live.
And when Petra finally stirs, he clutches at her jacket sleeves and presses his face to her chest once more, weeping as relief washes over him - his tears falling on the Scouting Legion insignia sewn over her heart.

Petra wakes in the infirmary.
She groans as she tries to recall what happened in their mission but her head is splitting and every breath she takes is like inhaling shards of glass. She winces as she shifts in her narrow bed, calling for the nurse to give her something to dull the pain and help her sleep.
The older woman does as she requested and Petra soon drifts back into a deep and dreamless sleep.
The next time she wakes, it is to the sound of Levi’s voice softly calling her from the realm of dreams. She tries to crack a joke about narrowly escaping her fate of being titan shit but her throat is dry and she goes into a horrible coughing fit instead.
Levi reaches for the glass of water on the table beside her bed and shoves it to her face, touching the cool glass against her chapped lips. She takes the glass from his hand and drinks.
“How are you feeling?” He asks after Petra has calmed down from her coughing fit.
She gives him a small smile, her voice still hoarse when she answers, “Worse than I look.”
“Sorry I did that,” Levi gestures at the bandages over her chest, his brows furrowed, his eyes intense.
“If I didn’t -” he runs his hand through his hair with a sigh, “If I didn't do it, you might have died.”
Petra nods and tries not to squirm under Levi’s gaze. She doesn’t remember much from what happened before passing out aside from almost getting eaten and her captain risking his life to save her.
She parts her lips to thank him for giving her a second chance at life but even before the words slip out of her mouth, Levi has already gone on a spiel about her stupidity and recklessness and her apparent lack of self-preservation.
Petra blinks at him in shock, surprised by his outburst. He's going on and on and on and it's making her head hurt.
“You should have just let me pull you out of the titan's mouth, then you wouldn't have to suffer through three broken ribs. Did you know that it almost punctured your lung?"
"We were all losing our shit. We were worried sick when they were doing whatever shit doctors do."
"Oluo cried when they wheeled you out of the room unconscious. He thought that you were truly dead."
"Gunther told your father what happened. He said your father fainted and Gunther had to stay with your father for more than a day to make sure that he was okay."
"Did you know that Eld now has a scar on his arm in the shape of my teeth?"
"I had to cut you out of the titan's stomach. It was disgusting."
For someone quiet most of the time, Levi sure does get talkative when he wants to.
Petra groans, choosing not to hear what he has to say. She loves her captain. She really, truly does. But she is beyond exhausted and he is getting on her nerves and she just wants to sleep goddamnit.
Levi sees the irritation flash on her face and stops his monologue. He doesn't even know why he was stalling, he should've gotten straight to the point. "Right. I should let you rest more. We can talk about it another time."
This piqued her interest.
Talk? It? The way he phrased the words seemed as though they had something important to talk to.
And before Levi can stand from his seat beside her bed, she asks, "Do we have something to talk about, Captain?"
This time it is Levi who blinks at her, "You don't remember?”
Her brows furrow, her head pounding. She screws her eyes shut and presses the heels of her palms to her temples. Trying to remember anything makes her want to pass out.
"I don't remember anything… Just -"
She locks eyes with him, "Just you, sir. Screaming at me to let go."
***
Levi chooses not to tell her of her confession nor tell her how he truly feels about her.
He can't have her do reckless shit for his sake again.
So, he trains her harder than the rest of his squad instead. Always giving her the hardest assignments in missions, always pushing her to her limit in hopes that she will always survive the expeditions outside the walls.
It is not good for soldiers to develop feelings for one another but still, he cares for her more than he should and this is the only way he knows how to tell her that he feels the same way.
***
It takes three years before Levi Ackerman finally confesses. But by the time he does, he is far too late.
The 57th Expedition outside the walls has just ended in a resounding failure. His whole squad is dead. He kneels beside their bodies, cuts out the patches from their jacket, and pockets them.
He picks out her body from the pile easily. She's the shortest one there, her hand sticking out of the wrappings meant for the dead.
He lowers his head to press his lips against her cold fingers, his words ghosting her skin.
And when everything has been said and all tears have been shed - Levi lets go.
Lol what if Oluo keeps accidentally finding Levi and Petra’s vague love notes to each other, and thinks its for him😂😂
