“This question is totally not fair.” Wade rubbed his chin and sighed. Where would he even begin? Did he really HAVE to pick just one thing? Bucky was kind. He was sexy. He had everything he could possibly want in a guy and then some. Those insane blue eyes. Soft hair. Cooking skills. He could fight, BOY could he fight. Bucky had an interest in weapons, that was hot too. A nice lap to crawl into. A calmness. Safety. He knew all the ways to get Wade needy. He had a nice voice. That mysterious edge. Unbelievable strenght. Patience like no other…
“Listen,” Wade said. “It’s EVERYTHING, alright?” Wade decided that until Shady McGreyface decided to come off anon, he wouldn’t narrow it down to just one thing - it could never be one thing. His favourite thing about Bucky was that he was Bucky.
It was getting dark outside. Winter is like that, though. It gets darker sooner. People compensate. Light candles. Hang up lights. Wade walked up behind Bucky and squeezed his shoulders gently. “Hey,” he whispered. Wade felt a pang of warmth towards his boyfriend. He’d just gotten out of the shower, put on some surprisingly proper clothes. It wasn’t as much that they were uncomfortable; more so that they were impractical given his line of work... Black jeans. A white t-shirt with a white button up shirt over. He wasn’t working tonight. And neither was Bucky.
“You need to stop, cupcake - it is getting late, and I have places to take you.” he said huskily as he leaned down and kissed his ear, watching as he shut down the computer. Once done, Wade spun his chair around, letting Bucky see what he was wearing. “Have a shower, put on something nice. I’m taking you out.” He purred, hoping his tone would make up for how commanding and controlling he seemed. “Eat first though,” he nodded towards the dinner he’d set out for them, homemade lasagna… He took hold of Bucky’s chin and kissed him tenderly. And aside from letting him know when he needed to be ready, he didn’t tell him anything else, wanting to plant some curiosity, maybe even build some suspense.
Of course, by the time they made it to the concert hall - it was pretty evident what they were doing. It was showing Scrooge, the musical. Something to get them started on the Christmas season, that they could share.
Wade had switched on his holographic image inducer to avoid staring and checked his own reflection in the window. Not bad. He held open the door for Bucky, the warmth gushing towards them along with the excited voices of people chatting and drinking wine. It all seemed very appealing and different from their usual environment. Maybe they were a bit out of their element, but Wade loved it. It was definitely good to get out - do something else.
“I only know the Muppets version of this,” Wade explained as they handed over their jackets to the wardrobe personnel. “And I love that. This has a lot to live up to.” he chuckled and kissed Bucky’s jaw. God, he smells nice. His significant other boyfriend so attractive that he found it hard to keep to himself. Damn it, this is going to be a long show, isn’t it?
Nothing ever compares to the Muppets, of course. But the performance wasn’t bad at all. Wade got engulfed in the story easily enough, the music catchy, but it didn’t stop him from holding Bucky’s hand throughout the thing. Their fingers twined together, hands resting in his lap. A simple act of devotion. One he insisted on, one they could allow themselves. Subtle enough not to draw attention. It kept him grounded, allowed him to be both needy and possessive, as they got lost in the magic of musical theatre.
Wade didn’t think he’d let go of Bucky’s hand, but he must have. They were outside, walking down the streets, heading home, raining praise on the show. Both wearing their jackets, there was no way they could have gotten them on if he hadn’t let go. Wade lifted Bucky’s hand to his lips and kissed his knuckles.
“Look at the stars,” he sang softly. “Look how they shine for you – and everything you do… Yeah they were all yellow. I came along, I wrote a song for you… and all the things you do, and it was called yellow…” For some reason, that song had stuck on his mind. Maybe because the stars were out, or all the Christmas lights that people had put up were giving off a golden glow. He was in no way to be compared to the singers they’ve just witnessed, but it wasn’t half bad.
“You know I love you so…” he added in a lower voice and sighed happily.
He had said he wanted to check out people’s decorations… but that was only half the truth. He didn’t want his night with Bucky to end. It was quiet. Safe. Loving. Everything he had imagined it could be.
“Are you cold?” Wade asked as they made it inside their apartment, a worried frown etched on his forehead as he helped Bucky out of the jacket. He picked up his hands, the metal always a bit chillier. The other one still warm from when he had been holding it. He stepped closer and wrapped his arms around Bucky, letting him steal some of his body heat. Using the excuse to hold him, be close.
Not long after the scent of chocolate spread throughout the rooms. Wade sat down in Bucky’s lap, carrying two big cups of cocoa. Yeah, there was plenty of room on the couch next to Bucky; there always was. But he preferred sitting in his lap.
“Here you go,” Wade waited for Bucky to take the cup. “Happy first of December,” he murmured softly, before stealing a kiss.
