Bundle Up for Winter Fun at WinterShines
Zip up your parka, lace up your boots, and put on your toque – it’s time for WinterShines!
Saskatoon’s 16-day winter festival begins Saturday, January 26, at the Saskatoon Farmers' Market. It promises to be a cool event. (Please, pardon the pun.)
Ice sculptures will be on public display at Market Square for the duration of the festival, and people of all ages can enjoy the Ice Park. Try climbing the 24-foot ice wall, go skating, or experience the luge. Younger kids can play with ice blocks and check out an icy Thomas the Tank Engine in the Kiddies Ice Play Area. Escape Sports will also be around, leading people in winter activities such as snowshoeing and kick sledding.
After all that cold-weather fun, you’re bound to get a rumble in your tummy. What better way to stop your hunger, than to heat up with a delicious bowl of soup? The Warm the Heart Soup Cook-off in support of the Heart and Stroke Foundation takes place Sunday, January 27 (amateur competition), and Wednesday, January 30 (professional competition).
Access to most PotashCorp WinterShines events and activities is free. Please check the website for more details.
