#HAHAHAAAAAA I WAS JUST THINKING ABOUT THIS #bc the thing is that steve took bucky for granted #he loved him dearly #but he took bucky for granted #assumed bucky would always be there for him #because he always was #and even when bucky goes off to war #steve's worried but easily preoccupied with his own mission #and then he hears bucky might be dead #and it's the first wake-up call #but bucky's fine #he's fine #so steve forgets #he gets wrapped up in peggy and captain america and defeating hydra #and bucky's there with him all the time #and everything's fine #until bucky isn't there #until bucky falls #and steve finally realizes that bucky standing by him was never a given #it was always something bucky gave willingly #something bucky fought for #because he loved steve#loved him to death #and as steve grieves bucky's loss #he remembers all the times he took bucky for granted #all the times he wasn't paying enough attention #all the times he never told bucky just how much his loyalty and his love meant #and at the same moment steve realizes how terrible he's been #he realizes just how far his feelings for bucky go #hahahahahahahahahahahahaha someone take my laptop away
