Welcome to George Lane and Sons Ltd on Tumblr
George Lane and Sons Ltd are based in Birmingham UK and supply wire belts and woven wire belts for the automotive and food industry. George Lane was established in 1878 by Mr George Lane himself, and was originally set up to manufacture furniture and bedding. These disciplines included weaving of wire for bedsteads and bedding springs. As the business flourished other members of the family joined and George Lane and Sons Ltd expanded in the heart of UK industry that is the West Midlands.
Wire conveyor belts production grew during the late 19th Century. In the 1940's a section of the factory was destroyed in a WW2 air-raid and George Lane's woodworking and furniture production stopped. At this point the company began to focus on the manufacture of wire belts and woven wire belts for different sectors in the food and automotive sectors.
In 1954 the ownership of George Lane passed from the Lane family. However, since that change the owners maintained a long-term investment in the wire belt manufacturer’s future, which included building the present factory in the mid 1970's. The objective of George Lane and Sons Ltd is to have the best environment in which to design and create wire conveyor belts.
To meet production issues in recent years, wire belts evolved to wider specifications that incorporated different sized aperture meshes for improved carrying surfaces in the conveyor systems. To ensure accuracy needed in the manufacturing and conveying process, since small variations in one revolution of spiral-wires are multiplied across a belt width, the machinery and tooling used by George Lane and Sons Ltd are manufactured within the factory.
George Lane provides back-up via paperwork which is highly detailed. The many products George Lane and Sons Ltd enjoy trouble-free lives and highly accurate records.
