(they also give you the option to remove your uh... attachments if the sexual misconduct really affected you that badly)
though it's likely you know that he cares mostly out of necessity, since you were important to Project Meridian and generally needs you on that level
James in particular, earned a place in your growing heart
he had given you choice and agency once the intrusive coding was gone
but you were always notably happy to see him
James initially was concerned that it could be romantic attachment as being in a position of power would make it complicated and he hadn't wanted to step away from this - as well as that fact he had cared for you
but is relieved to hear you almost immediately deny it and tell him that your feelings are purely platonic; friendly
it sets a warmth in his chest at seeing you come into your own
especially as he taken to observing your behavior as you make and create things, helping those within your wide capacity
if he played his cards correctly, you would help create several advancements in technology as well as services in aid for the disabled, injured, elderly, etc.
(your baked goods were few of the indulgences he'd allow himself to have whenever you went on a small mission to make sure everyone is fed)
he is content to see you grow into the person you were meant to be
within you grew a deep seeded love for humanity, for all empowered beings for the world they made you in and it will be a piece that will aid in your venture of saving the meridian
