Wireless 2014 Review / Experience
First of all, this review is for Wireless 2014 in London and not the Birmingham one.
Let's get started then, I arrived abit late on the first day (Friday) but I ended up seeing Tinie Tempah, Meridian Dan, Pharrell and Kanye West.
Tinie Tempah: Great performance, exceeded expectations, really connected with the audience. Was nice to see him not stick to one album, he performed tracks from various projects which was good as he focused on music which would make everyone go wild.
Meridian Dan: This set was too insane, was a great surprise to see Skepta also coming out and performing his track with JME 'That's Not Me'. The crowd went ape.
Pharrell: Pharrell kinda clashed with Meridian Dan so I sort of missed part of his performance but when I got there he still hadn't performed the songs I liked, so he dropped when he dropped 'Drop it Like it's Hot' and 'She Want's To Move', I was very amazed, his stage presence was great, he seemed so down to earth on that stage aswell.
Kanye: Best performance of the whole festival, Kanye fully delivered and I knew he wouldn't do a bad performance from his previous shows being put up on vine. Kanye performed 'Runaway' and during it, the instrumental was still playing and he started talking about how big brands do not want him to design things for them because they want to control him and make him wear their clothes. Mr West had autotune while talking about this which gave the song a new element, he also had some uplifting words for people, telling them to pursue their dreams no matter what other people say.
Rudimental: Wasn't really feeling them to start with but I began to enjoy it more as the show went along.
Knife Party: Best crowd ever, one of my favourite moshpits ever, the atmosphere was too good.
Earl Sweatshirt: I only got to see him for a short time, but it was good though, glad I made it before he performed 'Chum' which was really good.
Wiz Khalifa: Great set, Wiz got the crowd pumping and brought the Taylor Gang out, Wiz's performance was too insane and the crowd definitely enjoyed it.
Azealia Banks: Her beats are too hard, I was actually impressed and despite her attitude on Twitter, her set was mad and her dancers were actually pretty good.
Day Three was ridiculously chilled to be honest but this doesn't mean it wasn't as good as the others.
John Newman: Great singing but the dancing was just to painful to watch.
J Cole: 2nd time seeing J Cole live and him and DJ Dummy really killed that set, performing songs from his various projects for fans old and new.
Ellie Goulding: The voice is just as soft in real life, wasn't a fan of the set but her voice was good, have to give her that.
Sean Paul: My Childhood Dream was accomplished this day, seeing Sean really made me happy, the crowd went mad, was happy he performed his old material which is my favourite. And the fact that he brought out Fuse ODG made me see how much potential Afrobeats have now.
Bleachers: I have to be honest, I didn't know this band but after hearing them perform their track 'Shadows', I was amazed, definitely check them out.
Robin Thicke: He killed it, his team were playing all the instruments etc, it was my definition of a great live show, the lighting was in sync with the music which really brought up the performance to a new level.
Tim Westwood: Randomly saw him but he was actually good, got the crowd pumped up before Robin Thicke came on.
Outkast: Had to leave Robin Thicke for Outkast and I don't regret it at all, don't get me wrong, Robin was good but I used to listen to Wireless when I was like 8 years old and I've been a fan since, Andre and Big killed their set and made my other childhood dream come true.
