Quinn got out of the car and marched into the building, looking extremely confident, but feeling less so. She was sure that her squad would still be upset with her for ditching them yesterday, but she was also sure that they would forgive her (hopefully soon). Santana noticed her first and ran up to her. The look on her best friend's face told her that she was about to deliver bad news. "Sue was furious that you left yesterday," she told her in a hushed tone. "She made the two of us co-captains for the competition." Quinn became furious herself when she realized who Santana was referring to. Finn's new girlfriend? What the...?!
Quinn narrowed her eyes at Mandy, who she swore skipped over to her. "You shouldn't have left, Captain," she said with a smug look on her face. "Sue's considering making Santana and I co-captains permanently, not just for today." Even though she felt defeated in the moment, Quinn could not let Mandy know that. "We'll see about that," she challenged her. "I trust that Sue knows who's going to lead our squad to victory." Before Mandy could respond, Quinn brushed past her, Santana not far behind. She'd never been more grateful for Santana's loyalty to her. It never faltered.
"So where did you disappear off to anyway?" Santana wondered once they were alone. Somewhat reluctantly, Quinn answered her question and then proceeded to confide in her about the rest of her night. Santana was in hysterics by the time she'd told her everything, which prompted the blonde to glare at her. "Okay, okay," Santana apologized to her, raising her hands in mock surrender. "I'm sorry, but - oh my God - that sounds terrible." "Thanks," Quinn mumbled under her breath. Seeing that the blonde was genuinely upset, Santana got serious for a moment. "It gets better. Practice makes perfect and all that. I mean, not that I would know of course. I'm a natural," she declared half-jokingly. It was Quinn's turn to laugh and for a moment, she felt like nothing could bring her down.
