Honestly yea. That would have been so much better.

A lot of things could have been so much better when it came to Wreck-it Ralph 2.

Pretty sure if they had just gone game hopping with some good explanation of it. Like maybe Venellope got stuck in the internet because of her coding so her and Ralph would have had to hop from one website to another (with better websites picked out for the movie) that would have made the arcade feel small and repetitive to Venellope.

It could have been a good lesson about growing apart. Ralph could even have had a moment where he is still fighting for Venellope to make it back to the arcade, against her wishes, because he thinks it's best for her since he doesn't realize how much she has grown during their world hopping.

Instead of Ralph being the cause of the virus, it could have been another game bug that latched onto Venellope's code or something. That would have been the urgency factor for the two to keep moving through worlds which would have ended with the girl from Slaughter Race helping Venellope integrate into the game by adding her code into it (so either the virus moved on or was defeated, which if it moved on could give a 3rd movie opening).

That's what I think would have been a pretty cool thing to see if they truly wanted to keep the internet schtick.

If we go with your idea of this particular Sugar Rush cabinet becoming a local legend, it gets kind of hard to think of a plot line for that kind of story.

The only thing I can think of are other arcade units start to become less popular because of the legend. Literally groups of kids only come for Sugar Rush and Fix-it Felix (maybe there was a huge increase of all games for a small bit because everyone wanted to see if the other arcades that had random secret levels/players to it but it died down so only those two games were being super played).

Then we can get a whole story line where other arcade cabinets are trying to go off code because they want to be played too. Internally those characters are also bitter at FIF and SR because of their popularity. Perhaps some newer games (or older ones) try to sabotage the cabinets instead which leads to some confrontations and outside problems. I don't really know.

OH! How about instead there is a story about another set of Sugar Rush arcade cabinets that come in!

I know there are already 2 cabinets in the arcade, but they are so close to each other they might be wired together so you can race against a friend or something, meaning that they operate as one cabinet and is why there is only one Sugar Rush world.

That could cause a cool story where we see what a true Princess Venellope would be like. We could see what Sugar Rush is like when there was no King Candy and how much more different Princess Venellope is from President Venellope.

Perhaps there is a lil swap between the two Venellope's or maybe they don't get along at all and have to come to some kind of terms with each other.

I don't know what the real conflict would be. Other than possibly President Venellope challenging Princess Venellope to a race and winning with her glitch which causes Princess V to get upset and want to erase President V? I don't know.

No matter what, they had a lot of different story lines they could have gone with for a good Wrech-it Ralph sequel where they didn't just retcon all of Ralph's growth and destroy his character just to make a soulless sequel.

Was thinking about that WIP and wait…

is the Vinyl City Incident going to be like Shibuya Incident and the Night Parade of Hundred Demons? (Because if all of Mahito’s creatures were unleashed in Vinyl City… well…)

Mahito is haunting the narrative, huh

No, it's not. The main entities that Meri and Cori are gonna be using are more like nether mobs (Minecraft) and mental enemies (Psychonauts) with random curses splurted in.

So I guess kinda like Night Parade of a Hundred Demons, but not because of any of the entities in the wip I was showing.

The entities in that wip are the Cybug (Wreck it Ralph), Divider (Dead Space), Mutated Zombie (7 Days to Die), Witch (Left 4 Dead), Xenomorph (Alien), Reiko Tamura or a random parasite (Parasyte), and the Mother (Zoochosis).

The thing all of these entities/aliens have in common are that they have highly mutated DNA caused by Mahito's magic naturally being infused into them. So none of them were directly transfigured, instead they were created out of Mahito's magic.

The Mother and Parasytes were made directly using Mahito's magical DNA with the Trolls cloning device. Mahito ended up letting the parasites go free into the world.

From those parasites flus/diseases were made that would become the 7DTD Infection and the Green Flu from Left 4 Dead (though not as transmittable, it is much more mutatious).

The Xenomorph and Necromorphs are aliens/alien origin. However, because of Mahito hanging around the tech of the trolls, he was able to find and bring both to Earth by being a sort of incubator for each of them and setting the alien and infection onto humanity.

Then there's the Cybugs which were just a computer virus even before Mahito was born. So technically the residual magic coming from the arcade cabinet could have helped in the creation of Mahito, however, Cybugs were never able to leave the digital space before.

It took Mahito going into the game with Kenjaku (and possibly Sombra if Moira got her to go in there) for him to literally take a Cybug out of the digital world and give it the ability to live out in the real world.

The 1000 years of War and destruction is no fucking joke. Most of humanity is going to die unless they find a pocket of magical protection within a city for civilization (or are strong enough to make their own save haven).

So while most of these creatures are not going to be in Vinyl City during the main attack, they will come back in full force and help in the destruction of most of the world. So yes, Mahito is absolutely going to haunt the narrative to the extreme.

HC that Ganke was really into the console version of Hero’s Duty when it came out. Eventually, after he met Calhoun from the arcade, he was given one of the guns there that the Hero’s Duty characters were able to summon. Guess what weapon Ganke uses against entities now. (Hell maybe Mai gets another gun from Hero’s Duty too.)

Ganke, Mai, and Eridan getting a gun from Calhoun would be absolutely amazing.

Love the idea that Ganke is talking about all the specs in game of how this certain gun can kill a specific creature, while Mai is talking about what real world equivalent the gun is based off of, and Eridan is comparing it to Ahab's Crosshair.

Just three gun nerds fawning over their new toys (and later many people are worried that 2 teens were given super special guns but Calhoun is probably used to child soldiers so doesn't even register that it's not good to give kids guns).

Fun fact! Some people interpret Vanellope as a trans-coded-character since she insisted on racing even though society told her that she was never supposed to or couldn’t race. (“You’re a glitch, and that’s all you’ll ever be” is a line said by one of the characters) and the whole rejecting the princess look/role like her OG code makes her have even more Trans Swag. (Also she has “pixlexia” aka she glitches so she’s also disabled too)

In universe it might be funny if fans HCed her as trans due to a flavor-text error or something, and the devs made her officially some flavor of trans in the modern remakes/sequels!

That makes sense.

But I think it would be neat that Vanellope only started identifying as trans AFTER getting her memory back.

Because to me, she felt truly like herself when she was a "glitch" and sorta identified as a glitch even though it also (for lack of better words) dehumanized her because of how different she is.

She truly encompassed herself in this feeling, even though at times she tried to be a racer like the others. So once she got her memories back, she was happy to be a racer but still identified as a glitch, even though she was no longer that at all.

I feel like it's kinda the opposite of how Haym is. Haym was created as a girl and then when he got remade, he was remade into a male body. So he doesn't feel like he is trans even though by definition he is different from his created gender and would be seen as trans.

Vanellope on the other hand was always a racer, but was never raised as such. Well she was raised through code but all the memories were wiped away for so long she basically grew up with an entirely different identity. So when she finally got her memories back, it was hard for her to just feel right and like she was actually cisgender as she was born a racer and was now a racer. She would still define herself as trans because of all those developmental years (years she was becoming sentient, or first being sentient) being seen as something she wasn't but still identified as to a degree.

So while technically Vanellope isn't trans by definition, she still identifies as one.

Also, I like the idea of video games like Vanellope having a different view of gender. So Vanellope's gender would be racer. Kinda like how bees have worker, drones, and queens. It's not until meeting humans or a game that relies heavily on gender expression that any of the video game characters actually start thinking about gender.

They would have much different aspects of gender in their head though. Based off of code and jobs. Whether they are heroes or villains. At least for the sentient characters it would be like this.

Not to mention they are entities who also don't tend to have actual genders/sex. The WIR characters are more closely tied to robots and entities than to humans, so there's gonna be a lot of confusion from them as they learn about humanity once they get out of their arcade cabinet (something I am sure Purl-hew and Haym would love to have a discussion about).

But yea, if the fanbase headcannoned/loved trans Vanellope a lot, I can see the developers of the game either doing a nod to it in a remake or sequel. Possibly even outright confirming it in a sequel.

The only problem with that though, is that won't affect the Eriverse entity Vanellope as she would not be getting an update like that. Once she became sentient, she became an entirely different person from any other Vanellope in any other game.

Similar how Sayu as a person is not the same as the game Sayu's. Any updates to real Sayu vs game Sayu is not the same. So Vanellope wouldn't be held to the standards of later games. If later games has Vanellope come out as a transman/boy, then that doesn't automatically make this Vanellope trans as they are different.

It could absolutely make her think about it, but she's not gonna just follow every new update and patch to her other selves because she's already established to be unique and different. Something she is happy with. So trying to fit into the mold of what you are "supposed" to be based off of code that's not even yours is not something I see Vanellope doing (especially if she has a legitimate talk with Purl-hew and Haym about how trying to follow their code vs how they feel made them very fucked up in the head, then she would rather follow her feelings rather than some stupid code that can be manipulated).

Though I do like the idea of transmasc or genderfluid Vanellope :3

Some HCs/facts from Wreck it Ralph:

The movie takes place in 2012. (Meaning it’s been a few years after the Robot Revolution.) Sugar Rush was released in 1997. Fix It Felix Junior was released in 1982. Hero’s Duty was released in 2012. Meaning the kids in the Eriverse might be fans.

… hopefully Cy-Bugs will not escape to the real world in the Vinyl City incident. (but at least this probably means that the weapons/the arcade characters might aid in helping Vinyl City. (However, if Kenjaku made Litwak’s arcade into a Culling Games ground too…)

Ralph and Vanellope might be the first people to realize what was going on in TADC. They found out about the entities going missing there.

I base time off of when Psychonauts takes place. So those games take place in 1980's. Then about 20 years later is when the Rock Revolution happens making it early 2000's.

After that there is a 2 year time jump each between the Rock Revolution, Power Revolution, and Tech Revolution. Meaning we could be ending this time anywhere from like 2004 to 2010 depending on when exactly Psychonauts takes place.

After that revolution is when a 10 year timeskip takes place and entities start showing up. Possible before the timeskip ends we could have Wreck it Ralph start forming, but I would say that if that is the case it would be at year 9 of the timeskip and after the timeskip is when Margo goes to check out the arcade.

Possibly all of this happening before Yinu decides to retire so the events of the entity invasion hasn't happened yet, however entities are still forming so it's just Margo looking for creepypasta arcades. Or even right after Yinu retired as it would take time to set up the audition for the new charter.

Though if we do say that this is before Miku takes stage at the audition, and entities aren't known yet, then there's no reason for Margo to know what entities are, which is why this would be more of a hobby to find glitched out tech and games rather than help out entities forming an incomplete digital domain.

Unless Margo befriended someone in the Psychonauts (which, maybe. I don't think so though. Unless perhaps Gisu became some kind of friend to Margo because of tech stuff as Gisu most likely took over the tech field once Otto retired/died and Margo has been working with tech companies such as J-1).

So if Margo is friends with Gisu, or anyone else in the Psychonauts, bit might have already known about entities. Or at the very least byte would be informed about them once byte told the Psychonaut buddy about what bit discovered at the arcade.

But anyway, long story short, the Robot Revolution takes place closer to early to mid 2020s, with Wreck it Ralph's discovery being in early 2020's or even 2019. The kids of the generation from 10 years ago could have absolutely been some kind of fans that just grew up (and especially the Psychonauts kids being fans of Fex-it Felix Junior which might be why Margo tells the Psychonaut friend about it).

Don't know how the "lesser" characters in the games would be effected. It could be that just "main" characters and/or playable characters are the ones who become sentient. Or at the very least, those are the ones that can actively leave the arcade cabinet to join the real world.

Though, I do love the idea that Kenjaku and Mahito find this place, get into the incomplete domain/digital space similar to B2J, and take one of the cybugs (Mahito is taking it absolutely, even if Kenjaku tells him not to. How can you not? They are adorable and would be amazing to play with/run tests on).

Still prefer the idea that it is Margo who is able to figure things out first before anyone else. Mainly because byte is the only person (other than Mechamaru and extremely gifted psychics) who can go in and out of the domain with no real consequences. It definitely would help to have the perspective of Ralph and Vanellope though! So most likely those two are the first people Margo talks to (even before talking to Tila) which helps bit figure things out.

Crack Eriverse ask:

the reason why Litwak’s arcade is the only one which has an whole entity filled arcade is because Mr Litwak himself has an ability to control electricity. To be exact, he can treat electricity like it’s sentient. That’s why the place does not burn down even with just one power strip and the arcade’s residents turned into entities.

(to be honest I would love to see these characters interact with TADC, or help to open the domain trapping everyone inside. Hell, maybe they can take in Pomni and co once they successfully get out of TADC.)

(also it would make sense if Margo was the one who discovered this arcade to not be afraid of entering TADC: bit would’ve had the experience of getting into a video game world and leaving without harm.)

Yo I forgot that basically the whole arcade is plugged into one power strip (or at least huge parts of the arcade are plugged into one). That is so fucking dangerous but makes sense for someone who can control electricity to do to save on money.

I don't think he treats the electricity itself like it's sentient, but he does personify the arcade cabinets which is a similar aspect. It could also be that he is like wirelessly controlling the electricity unconsciously. In the sense that he's a conduit that makes any kind of electricity around him move better.

So he's never experienced a blackout, or had to worry about ampaged or fuse boxes before because his powers just naturally allow for the best electricity power usage (Electacey comes to visit him and compliments his powers and how good she feels. It's like being at a spa for her /j).

I don't think the WIR characters are gonna help TADC characters in the domain. It would be way too risky as entities can absolutely get stuck in the domain and never return (and they don't really have the ability of humans to make copies of themselves, they would be losing themselves entirely).

We know from the second movie that Ralph can get jealous and protective (not gonna be using the second movie a lot, but him being protective is something I want to keep which was seen in the first movie as well) so he'd not even want Panellope to go near that domain. Same with Calhoun and Felix not wanting each other to go in (though Calhoun would still want to, but if not going in means Felix won't go in, she might stay out, especially if capable people are going in, ie. Satoru, Suguru, and Dagon).

Margo not being afraid of TADC domain because of working with WIR's incomplete domain/digital domain is absolutely a good idea! It makes so much sense! Especially if Tila also didn't do much with this part of bits life and not regrets it as she lost her partner to a domain.

Crack Wreck it Ralph in the Eriverse HC because I can (obligatory I Do Not Support Disney But This Is A Really Good Film disclaimer here)

-Ralph (from the game Fix-It-Felix Jr) is an entity equivalent of a physically gifted person (either he can only convert his magic into strength, or he has destruction as a base power)

-Felix (from the game Fix-It-Felix Jr)has a golden hammer passed down from his dad. It can fix anything, including his body. … it’s like a combo of RCT and construction technique.

-Vanellope (from the game Sugar Rush) has a glitch that makes her “glitch” around. Some sort of teleportation ability?

-Sargent Calhoun (from the game Hero’s Duty) has an invisibility power. (Taken from her OG concept)

-the owner of the arcade, Mr Litwak is responsible for making the arcade come to life with his own powers. He’s been taking care of the place for years by himself so the magic managed to seep into the arcade, making it accidentally come alive. As far as Margo (or anyone else for the matter) knows, this is the only case where something of this scale has happened.

-speaking of Margo, bit found out about this arcade due to online forums talking about a certain King Candy (leader of Sugar Rush) who was not in any other arcade. Byte, possibly Tila and several others go investigate suspecting entities at play.

-If Ralph is going to also be a tree elemental, I can absolutely see him having more physical strength than an above average person. Instead of being able to change his size like Mama and having his power increase, his size is stagnant but he is always very strong.

-Felix's hammer would be more like a cursed tool/object. At least it would be classified as one since that is where all his powers come from. Most people would assume that it is more like a tool for his powers to go through (like a guitar for music magic), but it was never stated in game and so it turned to the hammer being magical while Felix isn't once he became an entity (though he and his family is much more competent with the hammer than anyone else though).

-Vanellope's powers are basically the same. There's no reason to change them. If I'm being honest, now that I think of it, I think Ilma's ability to travel short distances as fire is inspired from Vanellope's glitch ability to travel short distances. It was at the very least subconscious because I can't remember the true inspiration.

A caveat with her powers would be that they are stronger digitally. So when she is in a digital space (either a domain, her game cabinet, or a digital world like Sayu's) she can travel much longer and with less energy. She can still travel out in the open air with a glitch, but needs extensive practice once she's in the "real" world as it is a completely different reality for her (traveling through wires to get to places is also something she can do. She can't stop in the wire and hang out, but she can pop out of a wire at any point).

-I can see Calhoun with invisibility as a power. It is a broken ability in a game where stealth is needed, which is why she is one of the last characters to be unlocked in the game (if you have the skill and quarters to get to her).

-I'm sure there are other places where this is happening, but not as many people have high magic outputs like Neon J and Litwack, so it takes a MUCH longer time for something to become infused with someone else's magic. Though, with the emergence of entities, that might become more common (unless entities can't make other entities in a normal sense of infusing magic like humans can).

-Love that we came to the same conclusion of Margo seeking out this arcade because of King Candy being a one of a kind character lol. I gave my idea out in the other ask before reading this one fully! Funny how that happened!

But yea, Margo is absolutely going to investigate this arcade. I don't think Tila will be interested, she might come to hang out but she's not into this kind of stuff right now (might be something she regrets not getting into once Margo gets put into TADC domain). So it will mainly be Margo, Eloni, and one of the mermaids going to check out the arcade instead.

Crack Wreck-It-Ralph in the Eriverse ask -sequel:

Ralph (since he lived in a stump that got moved to a dump) is a tree elemental. (Unlike everyone else in his game who look like non-elementals.) -Vanellope has lime green skin like her concept art counterpart in the OG movie.

I'm not seeing the lime green skin concept art when I search it up, but I do think it would fit her!

I was actually thinking about not changing their designs that much, possibly JUST their skin color, because they are entities born from pre-existing media (Sugar Rush and Fixit Felix. Similar to how entity Miku was born from the digital version of herself).

I might think about changing elements and stuff, because honestly it makes sense that Ralph would be a very obvious elemental and the villain because Fixit Felix came out decades ago and so would have stereotypes of elementals being villains. Very problematic, but it was like the 80s so the media let a lot more shit slide that way.

Newer games like Sugar Rush have a much more balanced and less stereotypical character roster when it comes to distribution of elementals and non elementals as heroes and villains.
