Got the Widsom Panel DNA results back for Arthur - definitely what I expected in terms of the Spanish galgo and greyhound, but I was so interested to see the 12.5% Great Pyrenees! Although surprising, it is understandable considering the breeds originate from such close regions geographically. I suspect the Great Pyrenees is a constituent of the Spanish mastín [ligero], which is another classic breed that contributes to the genetic makeup of many stray dogs in Spain, so that might be one possible explanation for where the Pyrenees comes from?
Handsomedogs’ Photography Contest XVI ROUND 1.1
Sorry for the delay! We had a handful of Patreon submissions this time around, so I going to do things a little differently to be more fair. We are going to have separate voting rounds for the Wisdom Panel and the drawing, that way the doggos are only competing with those in the same category.
These dogs are all competing for the Wisdom Panel prize! Voting will be open for the next 3 days, then the top 3 will be in a final voting round.
Good luck! Message, notes, and reblogs do not count. The only way to vote is to click the link below (http://pollmaker.vote/p/C9RIQO3O)

SURPRISE!!!!!
So, I had Judge DNA tested out of curiosity and to see if the results would match my guesses at all. I guessed there was some large bird dog(s) with a short coat and big ears plus a somewhat smaller sized, longer coated, and shorter eared herding breed(s), and maybe some other minor throw ins. I figured this would add up to a dog around his size(50 pounds), coat length, and ears.
This reinforces my bird dog suspicions with a 62.5% mix of GSP, Lab, and Weimaraner. No herding breed at all, but I hadn’t really considered Lab for some reason which might affect the coat and ears in the ways I was thinking. I don’t object to the possibility of some terrier or guarding breed in there, but Chow Chow seems... unlikely.
My beautiful baby mutt. (I totally thought she was part shepherd like Ollie) 6 months old and 25lbs.
The results are in!!!! Buddy’s not as mutty as we thought. He’s 50% Am-Staff and 25% malamute and 25% Husky. We were expecting the husky but not the other two breeds. So interesting!!!
The best gremlin. Sent in Juicy’s wisdom panel and now excitedly waiting the results!!
