There's something about lush, stringy cinematic indie rock that often reminds me of my beloved Arcade Fire. That certainly happens on specific moments of Forebear's North Korea & The Five Stages Of Grief. However, there's a poignant, angsty Northwest indie emo rock sound blended in with Forebear's orchestral sound that also reminds me of bands like Death Cab For Cutie and now defunct The Lonely Forest. The Los Angeles band, once known as Wise Cub, smoothly and flawlessly weaves mellifluous indie rock music on their recent self titled debut EP, produced by Scott Gordan. North Korea and the Five Stages Of Grief is the EP opener.
