hi!! so im a fairly new fan of loona and what caught my eye about this group was the loonaverse itself. and while the symbolism and theories are interesting, i don't really understand what the loonaverse is. if you could explain it, i'd really appreciate it!! <333

I’ve been meaning to make this post for a while, so thank you for sending this in!

Alright, so the Loonaverse is the world in which the 12 loona girls reside in. The girls, however, do not live on the same “plane”.

The Loonaverse is in fact a mobius strip! (You can see it in action here)

 Loona 1/3 (Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, Yeojin and Vivi) all live on the outer part of the strip. 

Odd Eye Circle (Kim Lip, Jinsoul and Choerry) all live on the inner part. 

Since the final unit (Yves, Chuu, 11th girl, 12th girl) is still in development, we do not know which plane they live in.

It’s assumed that the final unit parallels 1/3 + OEC’s worlds hence the flip on the strip

Now onto the girls themselves~

Lets start with 1/3

Heejin met Hyunjin who became bestfriends in school

They meet Haseul who is already friends with Yeojin (Haseul is a motherly-like figure to YJ)

Eventually 3H meet Vivi who happens to be an android from Hong Kong

Vivi, at some point, meets Jinsoul there as well

All while this is happening, Yeojin becomes lost in the forest (she rejoins 1/3 during Love Cherry Motion)

Now onto OEC

Kim Lip, Jinsoul and Choerry all has this thing called Odd Eye, it gives them supernatural abilities

Kim Lip can time travel, Jinsoul can teleport, and Choerry can plane jump

Choerry’s plane jumper ability allows her to travel between both worlds (1/3 and OEC)

Choerry is also connected to all three units (she was in 1/3′s world, then moved to OEC’s after biting into the cherry, and also developed Odd Eye)

And lastly, the final unit

Yves and Chuu fall from Eden and are exiled to Earth 

This occurs when they bite the forbidden fruit

Once again this is pretty much all we know as of now

Now lets talk about the timeline. I’ll only go over the main story and what is confirmed by BBC!

3H solos

Yves’ New (happens sometime before Heart Attack)

Chuu’s Heart Attack (occurs around the same time as The Carol)

3H’s The Carol

Yeojin’s Kiss Later

Vivi’s Everyday I Need You (Vivi meets Jinsoul)

1/3′s Love & Live (3h meets Vivi, Yeojin goes missing)

1/3′s Sonatine

OEC’s Sweet Crazy Love (Odd Eye develops)

Kim Lip and Jinsoul solos (they meet at some point)

Choerry’s Love Cherry Motion (Yeojin is found a bit before this, and Choerry eats the cherry for the first time)

OEC’s Girl Front (OEC searches for 1/3)

Hi, sir. I've been reading about your LOK critique and I was wondering what you think would have made the show better overall (as in with the characters, relationships and villains). Also, if you don't mind me asking, what would have made Korra better as an avatar?

I’ve seen your notifications on my posts! I’m glad you liked them.

To start off I’ll talk about the relationships. They should have just stuck with Masami and Borra. No drama whatsoever. All the relationship drama did was drag down the plot, the characters, and make the show difficult to watch. We don’t need nor do we want relationship drama. Especially since LoK was originally supposed to be a miniseries it makes more sense to avoid relationship drama and love triangles/squares and just let relationships play out.

The characters all need a role to play in the story. Bolin, Mako, and Asami all were supposed to be main characters but they were never really given a real place in the story. Neither were characters like Pema when there was great potential to delve into the Bender/Nonbender situation and the Equalist plot. And if they continued the story there needs to be a good reason for these characters to stick around. Even if it’s just because they’re good friends with Korra there needs to be something. Or else they’re useless.

Like I said before the villains needed to be given proper treatment. Cause Bryke just treated them as flat villains and never let them have any real dimension to them.

Korra straight up needed to grow. She was a jerk in the beginning of LoK. But that was okay as a starting point. She was going to grow and be better. But she never did. The show bent over backwards to make sure she wasn’t considered the bad guy in any situation. It’s okay if she does dickish things as long as she has to face the consequences of her actions and grows from it. That’s one point. The other point is actually having her work properly at her victories rather than relying on Deus ex Machinas and villains being dispatched by other characters. Korra needs to work at her victories because if she doesn’t she ends up like Korra in the show. She needs everyone else to take care of her problems and needs the plot to deal with any problems because she’s a static character who hasn’t changed since episode 1 of Book 1.
