Oddly specific pet peeve, when an animated or special effects creature hatches from an egg and is way too small!!

Babies are frikkin vacuum packed in there, by the time they stretch out and fluff up they look bigger than the egg did, not smaller!!!

When I left it wasn’t because I saw some seductive, false, vegas-style hotel glinting maliciously on the horizon, beckoning me nearer. I didn’t leave because I saw something that crooned slippery promises of something more pleasurable, all cheap blinding filaments in neon, cloaked in greasy paper wrapping. 

I didn’t go chasing into the mist, leaving behind a steady and whole safety, abandoned on whim. 

When I left it was because the path under my feet gave way, splintering and crumbling under me, no matter how much faster I ran. The rod I clung to wasn’t iron but ice, trapping and ripping at my skin with each desperate handhold, leaving scarlet handprints behind. 

It wasn’t a leaving, it was a letting go. And letting go was to fall into the icy abyss that had opened beneath me. My departure was not an eager, triumphant thing. 

It was an exhausted, sobbing thing creeping on four bleeding limbs. It was a self flagellating litany chanted on hoarse and broken breath. It was looking at the ones who I loved and seeing only glassy eyes and painted-on smiles and wondering if they’d ever actually been real, if they even really knew. 

Imagine the horror of seeing everything you’d ever known quietly flake away under your hands once you had the courage to look, and then being unable to keep on seeing.   

The papery husk of it still clings to the bloodstains on my hands, the skin struggling to scab over open wounds as I slowly, painfully, patiently teach myself not to turn and slam them up against the grindstone again. But healing does come, slowly and with tears, but it comes. 

Now at least when I see others bleeding through their own broken feathers (and there are so, so many) I now know I can rush to their sides, unable to heal, but knowing how to teach tying bandages at least. 

I know it’s a mess. I’m a mess. What isn’t? Everything used to be in such orderly rows, all spit polishing and gleaming in pretty grid rows, upright and tied tight and no room for shadows. 

But I stand across the chasm, watching the other edge continue to crumble from under itself, tossing and grinding and unfeelingly abandoning more and more over the edge with careless abandon. Does it really not see? Could it really not care? 

It must not. It must not because to be knowing of such a steady massacre is a sin my half healed soul just can’t take. And so I choose to believe that, with ever thinning confidence that I know will eventually wisp away as well. 

I don’t wish that those who can still smile their acrylic grins and adore through sea-glass eyes would wake and see for themselves. I somehow can’t, not yet. Perhaps not wishing pain on others, more probably being sure in a bone-deep way that they’ll find out sooner or later, and that the longer they’ve stayed the worse it will be. 

What I do impossibly wish is that they could know that I didn’t leave.  I wish they could understand that it left me.

The Witcher Wolf, The Witcher Wolf Part 2, Changes, In Plain Sight, and Forget Me Not.

4. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I did when I first started out, these days I'll usually only respond to comments that pose an interesting question or point about the text or that have an especially entertaining element to them.

5. What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

A Bard Called Dandelion. More bittersweet than angsty, 531 words about outliving everything you love.

6. What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

To quote @slusheeduck: "Probably Teacher AU. Literally everything tied up neatly for the happiest ending possible."

7. Do you write crossovers?

I've done some Coco x PATF since I've got OCs from those universes who are star crossed lovers. Also have a DBH fic that takes place in the Witcher universe, but only with DBH characters on screen.

8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?

I don't think so? Occasionally there's a comment that's bizarre/poorly phrased/the commenter has terrible reading comprehension, but not really anything actually intentional.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope! In fact, back when I first started writing fic I was the kind of person who legally and unironically could not say Fuck.

10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

I've had a couple of my most popular oneshots unskillfully copycatted, but no copy-pasting theft that I can recall.

11. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! For sure in Spanish, Russian, and Chinese that I recall (and a couple podfic recordings which I love). I have an open policy of my works being fair game for translation as long as I'm credited and tagged.

12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I got into this game in the first place by co-writing with Slush hahaha. And I've got several DBH co-written pieces since I was part of a robust fandom writers server back in the day.

13. What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Ruia. Ruy (a Coco OC) and Iria (a PATF OC) that are the prettiest disasters you ever did see across all their AU's. <3

14. What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

I've got a discontinued Incredibles fic and a Frozen one that I'm real sad didn't get finished even though I know the rest of the plot for them. Ultimately they were good ideas I had when I wasn't in the social circles of the fandoms they were for and so I lost steam.

15. What are your writing strengths?

Seeing a poorly executed concept and obsessing over why it rubs me the wrong way until I figure out how to do it good and I suddenly have a great story.

16. What are your writing weaknesses?

I have so many creative projects going at all times (wood working, linocut, soft sculpture, ect.) that writing isn't my one true creative love like it used to be, so if I fall out of love with a project it's toast.

17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

Nice spice when done in moderation and with a native speaker's double checking when possible.

19. What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

Pretty content rn actually! If I really want to write it it generally gets done.

20. What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I'm still really proud of Forget Me Not, I think it's probably the most elegant dance I've ever done with a fandom's canon.

Hi. I know it's been a few years since the TeacherAU was written, but I recently discovered it and can I just say it is amazing. Everyone is so in-character even though it's a modernAU with different histories, and the different plots and subplots-everything.I was wondering, will Hector and Imelda in thisAU end up having the other four kids besides Coco that they had from your villainAU?Also, the asks and snippets for the teacher AU add so much to it; would you consider making an archive of

Thank you!! Sorry it took a million years to respond to this, but we appreciate the kind words!

Re: the kids in teacher!au, they do have the full set! And they all are in extremally superior mental and physical health to their villain counterparts since their parents are in a much much better place too.

Re: the asks, the short version of this answer is that there was once an effort to compile teacher!au back when I was still devoting a lot of mental energy to the Coco projects, but the difficulty was that where VIllain and PATF aus were a concentrated effort between me and Slusheeduck with audience participation, teacher au was a community creation that we took on fleshing out in one specific form which means that trying to track down posts for teacher au gets tricky.

The posts span many different blogs and can start to fray into different teacher aus, which makes tracking them down, organizing them coherently, and accurately attributing things the archival equivalent of wrestling a blackberry bush. :p It was a "if I cant do it right I don't want to do it at all" choice.

If there was going to be a successful effort to compile teacher au comprehensively it would have been a couple years ago when the trail was still fresh, but unfortunately I was graduating college at the time and was real burnt out after successfully compiling villian!au.
