Midam Week Day One. Prompt: Magic

Adam is clearly a witch.

The council have made their case. He grows strange herbs and mixes potions. He uses his wicked magic to make money, charging the sick and dying for his time and powers. It is God who chooses who lives and dies, God who chooses the pain they should suffer. Adam lives off immoral earnings, easing the pain of sinners before they pass.  

The council recommends that Michael, as a pious and just leader, should have the witch put to death immediately. 

If it were any other witch, Michael would listen to them, but he is unable to sign the warrant for Adam's arrest. Adam uses his magic to heal, to ease the pain of those crossing over. It isn't allowed, but it shows a quality of mercy that Michael admires.

Adam defies their laws to care for people and Michael cannot put him to death for that. 

In private, away from Michael's eyes, the council mark in their notes that, among Adam's many crimes, he has bewitched their once righteous leader. 

Michael is completely under his enchantment and, eventually, that spell will have to be broken
