There's a gap that shows up in a lot of witchy business owners' practices, and it's easy to miss because it seems so obvious once you see it.
They cleanse their homes. They tend their altars. They do shadow work, they track the moon, they treat their personal energy as something worth protecting and nurturing. And then they open their laptops and start working in the energetic residue of last month's launches, creative blocks, hard conversations, and slow sales periods — and they wonder why the new month feels heavy before it's even started.
A business run by a witch is still a living thing. It has its own energetic signature. It accumulates. It gets stuck. It needs tending, and it responds when it gets it.
The practice I use is simple enough to actually do consistently, which matters more than it being elaborate. At the start of each month, before any business tasks, I smoke cleanse my workspace and anything physically connected to my current offerings. The smoke moving through the space is as much about signaling a shift to myself as it is about the energetic clearing — both things are real and both things matter.
Then I pull one card for the business. Not a spread, just one card, and I ask a specific question: what does my business need from me this month? Not what do I need from my business, not what should I focus on for revenue. What does the business itself need. It's a subtle reframe and it consistently gets me out of my own head and into a more useful perspective.
I write one line about what I'm carrying forward from last month intentionally, and one line about what I'm leaving there. Then I light a candle and get to work.
The whole ritual takes about fifteen minutes. What it does to my relationship with my business over time is considerably larger than that.
If you're building a witchy business and you're not yet treating it as part of your magical practice, this is a genuinely low-barrier place to start. Your business has energy. It's worth reading it.
This is part of a larger conversation I'm building around witchcraft and business ownership. Follow along — there's more coming.
