The Persecution of Witches, 21st-Century Style

Far from being a horror from our medieval past, vigilante violence against those accused of witchcraft is very much still with us.

An interesting article that comes very obviously from a western viewpoint, but that sets up something that probably needs to be talked about in the online witch community, which is: if you are white and are practicing witchcraft in a country like the United States and are not part of any “traditional societies” like the article mentions then you are practicing a privileged form of witchcraft free from the very real dangers that other groups face when accused of witchcraft. I may get weird looks or face social repercussions for my craft, but there are men and women that are still murdered around the world for accusations of witchcraft. This is not to call anyone out or make you feel bad about your craft, but just to say that in your practice remember that there are those who cannot practice as freely as many of us do and that we should remember them and honor them in our craft. Either way an interesting and sad read.
