Thaddeus Evans
(For my psychology project where you turn a part of the brain into a hero, villain, or sidekick)
Thalamus (general sidekick for everyone)- Thal-Mail
Real Name: Thaddeus Evans
Age/Date of Birth: 19; May 10
Gender: Male?
Height: 5’
Weight: 115lb
Likes: conspiracy theories, supernatural stuff, his buddy the cow skull.
Dislikes: writing stuff down, smelling (he can't smell), not being asleep
Appearance:
Witch person
Has a cow skull
Has bad fashion sense
Strength: He is a neutral messenger between the heroes and villains (not that they know) and his magic controls consciousness.
Weakness: He can't smell and he has fatal familial insomnia, which can possibly kill him
Backstory: When Thaddeus was a child, his uncle passed away due to fatal familial insomnia where his thalamus degenerated. As he entered his teens, Thaddeus came to fear death and his solution was to study witchcraft. He always enjoyed the more supernatural part of life, and witchcraft was his favorite. His studies delved into the darker parts of the Internet and transferred to making potions in the college’s greenhouse. As he casually practiced magic, as one does, he began to sleep less and his dreams became much more vivid. Believing his developing insomnia stemmed from his practice, he simply decided to make sleep potions. Only recently did he realize he has the same affliction as his uncle. Wracked with the harrowing foreshadow of his own death, he panicked and began to focus solely on his magic. He gradually stopped eating, stopped attending classes, and stopped socializing to study the sorcery that could be his only chance of surviving the disease. His research drove him into the forest, allowing him to explore and experiment more. On one of his hikes, he was collapsing due to exhaustion and hunger. He entered a clearing to rest, yet there lie the skeleton of what looked to be a cow or bull. Thaddeus, almost delirious, took the skull of the bull and recited Hamlet’s speech while holding Yorick's skull. Of course the poor bones do not respond, but Thaddeus refused to let himself end up like the skull. Through his studies, he found concoctions of teleportation that brought him back home with the cow skull. As a result of his extended absence, friends were scarce as they had moved on. Thaddeus, invigorated to live and regain his lost companionship, cursed the skull to speak as if it were alive. Despite his more peculiar approach to life, he has gained the title of a messenger for The Guardian Lobes and The Villainous Sirs. Knowing the true identities of the opposing sides, Thaddeus generally becomes exhausted by their constant stream of childish fights that he must relay back and forth. On the other hand, he is ecstatic to be alive and with people he considers friends. However, his friends are much taller than him, all of them except for the skull, prompting him to wear five inch platform boots and, when working as the human Gmail, a hat too tall to actually stand up properly.
The thalamus is located at the top of the brainstorm. It sends motor and sensory information, except smell, to higher brain regions that deal with that sense. It's the sensory switchboard.
