Summary:
In the midst of a charged sparring match, Adrien surprises Kiyan with an unexpected request. Shemihaza, a saber of deep personal significance, is more than just a weapon—it's a piece of Adrien’s past, imbued with meaning and memories. Kiyan’s task will be to pass it on, returning it to its rightful owner. A witcher knows better than anyone how difficult it is to part with a beloved blade.
Kiyan has spent years saving for a new sword of his own, enduring hardships and sacrifices along the way. Yet, when Adrien’s prized saber is given away, Kiyan chooses to forgo his long-awaited weapon and instead forge something truly unique for the prince—a blade that could rival even the legendary Shemihaza. To do so, he must seek out a master blacksmith capable of crafting such a weapon, but his journey will take him far beyond Novigrad. Along the way, he will uncover forgotten legends, discover secrets of ancient gods, and follow a mysterious trail that leads him to the mythical island of Jurata, the Queen of the Seas.
______________________________________
Today, Kiyan was testing one of the many steel swords from Adrien’s extensive collection—his temporary arsenal ever since he’d lost his own during Ireneus’s ambush. The witcher adjusted his grip on the ornate longsword, gauging its balance as Adrien lunged at him, his Ofieri saber cutting through the air with a graceful, deadly arc. Their duel was both a rigorous exercise and a game of subtle seduction, a physical dance that kept them sharp during the long, gray winter days. The prince was relentless, his movements precise, his footwork light despite the fatigue that weighed on his limbs. But Kiyan had seen the signs—the subtle hitch in Adrien’s breath, the slight delay in his parries, the sheen of sweat darkening his collar and shirt clinging to his toned frame. The duel had gone on long enough for the human body to falter.
Adrien, of course, refused to yield.
“You’re slowing down,” Kiyan noted, his voice even, his stance loose yet coiled with potential energy. He circled Adrien, amber eyes tracking every shift in weight, every fleeting indication of his next move.
Adrien, panting but grinning, pushed a damp lock of hair from his forehead. “And yet,” he countered, feinting left before pivoting into a low slash, “I’m still standing.”
Kiyan deflected the strike effortlessly, angling his blade to guide Adrien’s momentum off balance. The prince barely managed to recover, boots skidding slightly against the polished wooden floor. For all his skill, he couldn’t match the raw speed and endurance of a witcher. And yet, he fought as if he could. As if sheer willpower alone could bridge the gap between them.
It was infuriating. It was intoxicating.
Their swords met again, sparks flying as Kiyan pressed forward, driving Adrien back step by step until his back nearly crashed into the spine of an ancient tome resting on a nearby shelf. The scent of worn leather and ink filled Kiyan’s lungs, mingling with the salt of sweat and the faintest hint of expensive perfume oils Adrien had smuggled into his morning routine.
Then, in one fluid motion, Kiyan locked their blades, twisted, and forced Adrien against the wooden frame. The prince gasped, his back hitting the shelf with a dull thud, and Kiyan took the opening—steel kissing the column of Adrien’s throat, the pulse beneath it fluttering like a caged bird.
A victorious smirk threatened to curl Kiyan’s lips, but he held it back. “Yield,” he commanded instead, his voice quiet but firm. The heat of exertion burned in his muscles, but it was nothing compared to the fire in Adrien’s dark eyes.
Silence stretched between them, thick with the tension of combat—of something more. Then, Adrien’s mouth curled into that signature, insufferably self-assured smile. For a heartbeat, time seemed to pause as Kiyan’s eyes burned into Adrien’s, watching him swallow hard. A challenge mingled with mischief.
In a husky whisper, Adrien murmured, “You have the most beautiful amber eyes, Kitty.”
Kiyan inhaled sharply through his nose, his grip tightening on the sword hilt. His heart pounded in his chest, and though Adrien’s words sent a familiar surge of desire through him, he forced himself to remain composed. He knew this was a diversion—a calculated attempt to distract him, to tempt him into submission. He had no intention of indulging in Adrien’s little tricks.
“This won’t work,” Kiyan said, his voice steady despite the warmth curling low in his stomach. He knew this game too well. Adrien loved to push, to provoke, to see how far he could bend before breaking. “But you can compliment me after you concede.”
Adrien, unrepentant, shifted just enough to press his thigh between Kiyan’s legs. “Oh, I don’t know,” he mused, feigning innocence as he rolled his hips with slow, deliberate precision. The friction was exquisite. Undeniable.
Kiyan’s body reacted before his mind could catch up, heat pooling low, blood rushing hot beneath his skin. Adrien’s smirk deepened, dark eyes gleaming with satisfaction. He no doubt felt Kiyan hardening in response to the teasing.
“I think it’s working rather well,” he murmured.
Kiyan growled low in frustration. That bastard.
His blade was still at Adrien’s throat. If this were a real fight, it would be over. The kill would be his. But there was something far more satisfying waiting to be won. The witcher had entirely different plans for the prince’s throat—and for claiming his victory.

Chapter 4 summary:
Aiden’s return forces Lambert to face what he’s spent years burying, while Keira is chasing answers of her own, determined to solve a puzzle that demands more from her than she’s willing to admit. And if there’s one thing Lambert knows, it’s that when sorceresses start making deals in the dark, trouble is never far behind.
___________________________________________
Aiden’s return had turned everything upside down. What they’d shared before—before Karadin had decided to fuck it up—had never been defined. But it didn’t need to be. It had been raw, intense, and vital in a way Lambert couldn’t put into words, even if he wanted to. Which he didn’t.
Witchers weren’t taught to name their feelings, let alone express or manage them. Quite the opposite. Every school—no matter its methods—drilled the same lessons into their recruits: feelings were a weakness. A distraction. Better to bury them. Forget them. Feel nothing. The less you feel, the better a hunter you are, and the better you hunt, the longer you live.
And sometimes, that worked. They said some witchers genuinely felt nothing. But for every one of them, there were dozens who weren’t hollow at all—witchers who felt everything too sharply, too painfully. And because they were never taught how to handle it, became dangerously unstable. Or worse, unable to read their own situation or the intentions of others, which could be deadly for them.
Of course, the experience taught them fast enough when to trust and when not to, but even the oldest veterans, who’d seen it all and been burned more than once, still felt that emptiness. That hunger for something more.
That’s why Lambert had never been able to define his bond with Aiden, but he knew that Aiden’s presence had filled that emotional void in a way nothing else had. It was as if some missing piece had finally clicked into place. And the best part? He didn’t have to explain it. He didn’t need words he didn’t have. Aiden just knew. He’d always known exactly what it was like.
When he lost him, anger became Lambert's refuge. It was the only emotion he knew that didn’t leave him vulnerable, the only one sharp enough to keep the grief at bay. Fury pushed him forward, and gave him purpose, while sorrow? That was a slow poison, draining his strength. He’d thought vengeance might fill the void—killing the bastards who’d taken Aiden, recovering his swords—but it hadn’t. Neither had drowning himself in bottles until the world blurred. The emptiness lingered, gnawing at him with a quiet ferocity he couldn’t shake.
It wasn’t until he met Keira that something shifted.
Lambert never trusted sorceresses. Too many had danced around Geralt, weaving their webs of lies and manipulation, for him to think they were anything but trouble. They were proud, selfish, and maddeningly calculating—the kind of people who lit a short fuse in Lambert every damn time. And yet, Keira Metz had come to him, bluntly stating what she wanted. She was selfish, argumentative, and wildly ambitious, no doubt about that, but at least she didn’t try to pretend otherwise. She amused him, intrigued him even, but what really sold him on the arrangement was how clear she had been from the start: fun and a few samples for her experiments, nothing more.
He could respect that. Hell, he could even appreciate it.
And besides, he owed her. She’d saved his life during the fight with the Wild Hunt, and the debt still sat heavy on his conscience. It wasn’t like he had anything better to do, anyway. His world was unraveling, thread by thread. Vesemir was gone, and with both Geralt and Eskel deciding to leave Kaer Morhen for good, there wasn’t much left of his old life to cling to.
So, when Keira offered him something—anything—Lambert figured, why not? He had nothing left to lose and, if nothing else, the sorceress knew how to keep things interesting.
He hadn’t even noticed when Keira began to fill the void left by Aiden. He liked her company—her fiery spirit, her sharp tongue, even the way she fussed over him. Though he’d sooner swallow his tongue than admit it. For the first time since Aiden’s death, he’d dared to think that maybe, just maybe, life didn’t have to be completely terrible for a witcher.
He wasn’t stupid enough to make plans, though. Life had a way of spitting in the face of optimism. Witcher's luck was notoriously rotten, and he figured his recent good fortune would run out sooner rather than later. He just hadn’t expected it to blow up in his face like this.

Chapter 6 summary: The scent of Adrien’s joy wrapped around him like a cocoon. Something inside Kiyan turned upside down, a strange, blissful feeling spreading a warm wave across his chest. It was always like this when he managed to make Adrien happy. He couldn't name it, but it felt so good.
______________________
It was almost midnight when Kiyan heard familiar footsteps behind him. He didn’t turn, just stared at the fire that burned in front of him, quietly waiting on the bench for Adrien to join him.
"Hello, kitty," Adrien breathed into his ear, standing behind him and embracing him while his hand slipped under the collar of Kiyan's linen shirt, hungry to touch skin to skin.
Kiyan covered Adrien's hand with his own through the fabric as it stopped at heart level. Adrien gently stroked his collarbone with thumb. Kiyan leaned back against the solid form of his prince and tilted his head up, giving Adrien's mouth access to his neck. He sighed softly, enjoying the warm heat of Adrien’s mouth on his skin.
"You ran away from me again," Adrien grumbled between kisses.
"Not from you, from Klemens," Kiyan corrected, relaxing completely for the first time in months. Under Adrien's hand, a familiar, soothing vibration built in his chest.
Adrien froze for a moment with his lips against Kiyan’s neck.
"Is there something wrong?" he asked gently, but Kiyan could feel the concern in his voice. Purring was part of the healing process, and he cursed himself silently. He’d lost himself in Adrien’s touch and revealed too much.
"Nothing. I'm just happy to see you," he replied, disentangling himself from Adrien's embrace. The prince allowed him, albeit with a disappointed sigh. Adrien straddled the bench beside him and regarded him intently. Adrien wasn't stupid, but Kiyan didn't want to talk about it. [...]

Summary: Kiyan, a young witcher on the Path, survivor of the pogrom, has a routine contract in a small and inhospitable town. Nevertheless, he decides to visit a local brothel in the hope that he will find nice company there and relax.
He finds something completely different.
_____________________________________________
Kiyan arrived in town at noon. With the wyvern head on a hook by his saddle, he rode the streets, arousing general interest. Before he entered the town, he hid his medallion under a kerchief around his neck, and now, despite the sun at its zenith, he pulled the hood over his head, trying to hide at least a little from prying eyes. He hoped to reach his destination undisturbed, because the fight with the wyvern, though intense, had been short and adrenaline-filled, and potions and unloaded aggression still lingered in his body. He needed only a little provocation for blood to be shed.
Until a few years ago, he wouldn’t have worried about it too much. Kiyan had no patience with stupid villagers who didn’t have the instincts to get out of the way of an armed witcher. This, of course, wasn’t conducive to building control, which Guxart put so much emphasis on, but it was conducive to natural selection, and Kiyan felt he was doing the world a favor by not allowing idiots to reproduce.
But that was before. Everything had changed since the slaughter known as the The Witcher Tournament. Kiyan hadn’t participated; he was in the group of witchers that Guxart sent on the path, despite Treyse’s insisting that everyone should be present at the Tournament. This rift between mentors was strange, usually Guxart didn't oppose Treyse's orders so openly, but Kiyan hadn't paid much attention to it at the time. Now he knew Guxart had chosen him to be a survivor. And as a survivor, he had certain obligations.

Chapter 3 summary: Kiyan always tried his best not to think about Adrien when the nightmares came back. He didn’t want to confuse his memories of the prince with these horrible images; he didn’t want to contaminate them with fear and doubt. He had put too much work into definitively separating the twisted visions that the demon had served from reality. But now he desperately needed Adrien to be with him.
______________________
Kiyan woke up in a cold sweat. He sat up in his bunk and scanned the room with narrowed pupils. Nothing but the moan of the wind, the splashing of water, the rain hitting the decking, and Gisbert's calm breathing as he slept in the next bunk. The evidence should have been calming, but Kiyan’s heart was still pounding like a blacksmith's hammer. Finally, he realized why his instincts were screaming danger. His mind was playing tricks on him, imposing on this scenery a memory of how, in almost the same cabin, under the same natural circumstances, he was overpowered and kidnapped by a mage…
This is absurd , he chided himself, now furious with the weakness, trying desperately to control his breathing. I have been on ships and boats many times since that and never--
COWARD , a hissing voice violently disturbed his thinking. WEAK. VICTIM.
Kiyan put his hands over his ears. It was for nothing; the voice was deep in his head.
You are still scared, admit it. You tremble like a leaf every time you hear thunder, you cannot sleep when it rains, you are still afraid that Ireneus will come for you again.
His lungs were burning as he struggled to breathe evenly, and Kiyan could swear he heard footsteps outside the cabin door, could smell magic in the air, even though his medallion rested quietly on his chest. He could hear the mage whispering a spell even though there was no one in the cabin but him and Gisbert. He was getting contradictory signals from everywhere, and the hissing voice was poisoning his mind and not allowing his heart to calm down.
It's all the same again. You want to go back to your prince and the storm is raging, the voice whispered inexorably. You are back in Bremervoord and going to Novigrad. The mage will come for you again and throw you into his dark dungeon. He will torture you, he will break you, and you will once again belong to ME.
Kiyan felt as though his fear would burst his galloping heart. He wanted to scream, but he couldn't make a sound, couldn’t even take a fucking breath. He had to somehow control his breathing before he could start to think logically. He’d been trained to listen to his instincts, but right now they were telling him Ireneus was here and he had to do what felt impossible and shut them out. He closed his eyes and desperately searched for an anchor.
As I received my 30th gift work today on AO3 (3 of them BuckTommy, you should totally check them out!), I was scrolling through those fics and found this one. It's a "Kiyan lives" fic, and like with all of the works people wrote for me, I get back to it from time to time and fondly think of Kiyan, who's definitely not dead and has still all of his skin and ... yeah.
