I am pleased to announce I will be running a new round of the Fisstech & Succubi Eskel Celebration in 2022, now that we have more Eskel content to create amazing fanworks of! Based on feedback I received from last year’s participants, I am going to be running this year’s exchange using the gift exchange platform on AO3 so the timeline and format for signups will be slightly different. If you have any questions at all, please send them to the ask box for this blog so I can answer them for everybody to see. This is my first time running (or participating in) a gift exchange through the AO3 platform so please be patient with me, I might not have all the answers right away.
Monday February 14 2022 (that’s today!!!) to Monday February 28 2022 - Tag Nominations. Please follow the link at the bottom of this post, and I will also make a separate post with the same link.
- You will have the opportunity to add up to three fandoms (that’s Witcher Netflix, Witcher games, and Witcher novels); and then for each fandom up to five characters and up to five relationships.
- You don’t have to specify Eskel as a character, I will make sure that all three forms of him are on the tag set.
- This is a fandom event about Eskel so your relationship nominations should include Eskel as one of the characters. The relationships can be / (romantic and/or sexual) or & (non-romantic and non-sexual).
- you will also have the opportunity to add up to 15 additional tags that you would like to write about, read about, or that you think would be fun for people to have in the mix. Please be generous and creative, try to fill up all 15 of your tags, because later during the signup process people will be limited to asking for and offering only the things that are in the tag list.
- You do not have to commit to participating in the exchange in order to nominate tags! In fact the more people we have nominating tags, the more fun it will be.
Tuesday March 1 2022 to Thursday March 10 2022 - Signups will be open. The form will prompt you to input characters, relationships, and tags (from the tags that were nominated during the tag nomination period) for three works you’re willing to write; and characters, relationships, and tags for three works you’d like to receive as a gift.
Friday March 11 2022 to Mumbleday March Mumble 2022 - requests are matched with writers. Apparently there is a script on the AO3 website that does this automatically, and also sends out the emails with the assignments automatically, so maybe it really won’t take that long! I hope it will be finished by Sunday, March 13 2022 but if it’s not, the next part of the timeline will be bumped forward accordingly.
Sunday May 15 2022 - fic due date!
A couple answers to questions I know I will get - yes, I would appreciate pinch hitters; and yes, people can do treats/gifts.
And a question for participants: how do you feel about an anonymous period during fic writing and for a short time after the fics are posted?

Witcher Rarepair Friends! Prompting is now open for the Witcher Rarepair Prompt Fest! The prompt form is here.
Q: What is the schedule?
A: Prompting opens January 23, 2023, and will remain open indefinitely (okay, until May 2026). Prompt claiming will open February 1, 2023, and will remain open indefinitely (also May 2026). Participants can claim a prompt at any time and submit it to the collection at any time.
Q: Can I combine a prompt with a fill for another event?
A: Yes, unless the prompter has specified in their prompt that they do not want their prompt to be used that way.
Q: Does my fill have to be a minimum or maximum length?
A: As the prompter, you should specify if you have any preferences about minimum or maximum length, but you have a limited number of wordcount options to choose from. They are (a) must be more than 100 words; (b) must be under 100,000 words; or (c) no word count restriction.

Witcher rarepair friends, I’m hearing from some of you that you are having various difficulties with the prompt signup form (it’s here, by the way.) I am but a humble bard and any difficulties you are experiencing are bugs, not features, so please put an ask in the ask box for this event (on or off anon) with the problem you are having and I will try to fix it or find a work-around to the best of my ability!
I have a couple of questions that I can address right away:
Q: The pairing I want to prompt for isn’t in the tag set, can you please add it for me?
A: Pairing suggestions need to be made during the tag nomination process, which is now closed.
Q: The pairing I want to prompt for is in the tag set, but I can’t add the individual characters in the pairing to the prompt. What do?
A: I’m still trying to figure this one out, please bear with me.
Q: Will we be able to add new pairings once the third season of Witcher comes out?
A: If this round is popular enough, I will open up a new round of tag nominations and prompts once the third season comes out.
I’m busy making prompts based on songs that come up on my playlist. You can definitely make better prompts than me, here’s the link where you can do so!
Hello! Question from a prompt meme newbie: what does it mean to claim a prompt? Would I be promising to write a fic for it, and if so, are there word count or posting date requirements? One of the promtps has really sparked my muse and I'd love to write a fic for it, but my life's chaotic enough right now that I hesitate to make a promise I might not be able to keep. Thank you for running this lovely event!! <3

First for a very technical and overly-literal answer to your question:
When you go to the prompts page (link is here), you can scroll along until you see a prompt that sparks your muse or gives you brain worms or An Craite Derangement Syndrome or whatever, and then you click on the "claim" button like this:
Once you have done that, you can check it out any time you are signed in to AO3 by going to your dashboard and selecting Collections:
Then click on the title for the Witcher Rarepair Prompt Fest:
And then click on "My Claims" to see your claim(s):
If the prompt you claimed does not say anything in the text of the prompt about word count requirements, then the number of words you produce is up to you.
For people who are submitting prompts (prompting is still open and the prompt submission form is here), you should specify if you have any preferences about minimum or maximum length, but you have a limited number of wordcount options to choose from. If you decide that you just don't think you are going to get around to filling your prompt, because your life is too hectic, or you've moved on to a new fandom and found new blorbos (blorboes?), or for any other reason, you can go back into My Claims in your AO3 dashboard and click on the "drop claim" button:
This is not like a gift exchange where each participant has to commit to producing something, this is a prompt meme so we are all just making lots and lots of ideas because we hope people will feel inspired and claim a prompt or two, so if you claim one and then later have to throw it back in the pool, don't worry about it!
This is a good time for me to mention that participants can claim more than one prompt, and more than one participant can claim the same prompt.
Finally, I think someone else sent me a specific ask about this, in which case I will answer it twice, but if you get to the part where you have claimed your prompt and written it and now you're ready to post it, you go back into My Claims in your AO3 dashboard again and this time you click on the "fulfill" button:
This takes you to a magical, already-partly-populated version of the AO3 New Work form:
The text of the prompt you claimed is already in the beginning notes box, and your work is set to be added to the Witcher Rarepair Prompt Fest collection when you upload it.
