Was talking to my family, and PB came up somehow, my mom asking some stuff about it, like if they could watch without having seen the original run. Which somehow came around to “he doesn’t sound like Snart, right? Cause Snart’s obnoxious” by which I guess they mean more just vocal stuff? (Although, “being mean to Mick” came up, which I defended by blaming the writers cause the writers deserve to be blamed). Which then went to that Michael is more like how Len sounds in the scene from Blood Ties when he’s talking to his younger self.
And then of course I had to go back and watch the scene for Reasons. Which lead to two different thoughts: 1) allll the Len as a father feels because oh my god how precious was that entire thing? “Why don’t you go on back to bed? Go on” literally kills me every. single. time. And 2) how do the same writers give us this emotional scene for Len that’s honestly really insightful to his character - literally something you’re not gonna get by putting him in a scene with anyone else - and also have him kill Mick by the end of the season season? Like...What?? I had a lot of issues with their writing last season, too, but there were these good moments that had a really nice grip on Len’s character and played into his arc while preserving his and Mick’s friendship. And then just...wtf happened come season 2??
