’Tis all that I implore;
In life and death a chainless soul,
With courage to endure.
There was an anon who wanted more Jaal hugs. I’m happy to oblige Jaal hugs.
I think Jaal probably had a hard time processing everything that happened on Khi Tasira. Everything he endures with Ryder on their journeys through Heleus is a lot to endure and because of that I truly feel like the story of Andromeda is as much Jaal’s as it is Ryder’s. I relate to the deeply personal places the game takes his character and what he has to witness while on the Tempest. I mean, we are talking about an individual that is personally privy to information that brings not one, but two cultural upheavals for the angara. It’s a lot for anyone to handle, having a world view flipped that many times in the span of just a few months, tops.
I kind of wish the game had given Jaal a little bit more time to grieve, in his own way. Not the end of life, but the end of a perspective and the start of a new one. I am glad though that it is his nature to get up and begin again, and move forward. He’s a good egg, too pure.
It’s 4:30 in the morning, everyone.
I also learned in the last 24 hours that I had a friend pass away. This image is apparently my way of coping with the shell-shock of the aftermath. It’s easy to project onto Jaal in this sort of situation. Life goes on, but how do we? How do we choose to continue to make life worth living?
Well, in the words of Emily Bronte, with the courage to endure. Seemed a fitting statement, for both Jaal and what I’ve been going through lately. We could all use the courage to endure the world right now, and hold onto it tight for those who cannot.
