Alex had been pacing for a good twenty minutes under Lily’s tree, wondering if this was a good idea. Actually ‘good idea’ wasn’t really the right way to put it; he was wondering if this was something Lily would be excited about, even if it wasn’t a happy excited. Or if she’d tell him to never bring it up again. You couldn’t tell with Lily. She was snappish about unpredictable things.
He’d left and then come back about four times and was bordering on a fifth when he saw Lily herself approaching. “Hey!” Alex yelled, and then grimaced. That was louder than he’d intended. He jogged lightly over to her, too wound up to wait for her to reach him. “I found something. I grabbed a bunch of DVDs and things wherever I found them -- you don’t know what those are but I’ll explain -- and I only just had a chance to go through them, and, and, uh, well....”
Alex thrust the DVD case he was holding towards Lily. “Take a look for yourself.”
