@withered-tears  See, I don’t think that would have had as much power as you think, and definitely not compared to Connie being the climactic emotional offering.  It would have been sweet, sure, but Connie and Steven’s relationship is SO important.  She’s never betrayed him or hurt him or put emotional baggage on him, she’s always been there for him, she’ll always be there for him, and their bond, their union, is the purest expression of mutual and self-love in the show.  Having that be what pushes Steven over into coming down from his breakdown is Important with a capital I.

Megatron wasn’t known for mourning the Decepticon dead. It was a rare thing and always done publicly, a show for the masses, for propaganda purposes. Real grief had never been a feature. The last time he did, the decadent hadn’t actually died. Unfortunately, despite his best efforts to ensure it. Even now he doubted Starscream was truly gone. However, there were exceptions, exceptions he had kept to himself. He didn’t often allow himself the luxury of legitimately grieving for the fallen.

However, he allowed himself this one indulgence.

It was all so long ago that he’d originally sent Deadlock in the guise of Drift to be an undercover agent in the Autobots’ ranks. They’d even staged an entire public defection in Maccadam’s to make it believable. Even that fool Hot Rod had been an unwitting pawn in the deception, fervently believing in the sincerity of “Drift’s” change of spark.

It had gone flawlessly.

Flawlessly.

Everyone had played their parts to perfection.

Now after so many millions of years, before their paths had a chance to meet once more, Megatron found himself standing at the edge of a bog on the Autobot side of the planet, staring into the depths of the bubbling oil.

1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?

Most of them tbh, lmao. Ok, but mmmm, is not even that I dislike it, but I just can’t wrap my head around IDW rodimags, especially given the way most people portray it, I just can’t see it working. And any starop is just........ nope, no thanks, get that away from me. I’m not fond of megastar, but I can see the appeal, except when people make it super tender, because what’s the point then??? And on that note, while megop is my fandom OTP many of the portrayals of this ship across continuities make me feel like we are talking about different characters.

26. Most shippable character?

Usually I’m not much of a multishipper, but I’d say IDW Brainstorm, I ship with with the cdrws, Whirl, Tarantulas, Perceptor... honestly just show me the potential on a Brainstorm ship and I’ll probably go for it.

Wait, no, is Bumblebee, while I mostly ship him with Thundercraker and Starscream, I hardly see a Bee ship that I actually dislike (on that note, OP/Bee should be up there). He’s just so nice and seems capable of making friends with anyone!

I guess it just doesn’t appeal to me??? Also can’t see how it would work without Minimus getting an aneurysm, lol. They just feel like very different people who enjoy very different things, so beside their loneliness, is hard to find common ground.

What would have made you like it?

Uuuuh, maybe if I could see it working? Like how would the dynamic work and what do they get out of it.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Their moments in Cybertronian Homesick blues were genuinely heartwarming and I wish we could have seen more of them as friends.
