There were a million and one reasons as to why he shouldn’t be there but when was he ever to listen to such rules? He’d sneaked away from the bunker, following his heart towards the girl who once was his, only for the Gods to snatch her and their children away, to push them all back into the middle of a nightmare that only he seemed able to realise wasn’t right.
She’d been with Saeran when they’d first met - yet despite them both fighting against that natural urge that called them towards one another’s arms, they’d ended up here. Meeting in the darkness of the night, holding one another close, simply being able to enjoy life just by being around one another. Maybe Seven could be considered as a slight cheat. He still had his memories of the many years that’d had together. He knew this girl before him better than he knew himself almost. He knew how to lift her mood, how to make those dark thoughts fade into the background, how to make her see that under the sneaky dark surface of the girl she was forced to be in her search for paradise - she was an Angel at heart.
If that was all he could reclaim from their previous time together, then so be it. He’d forever hold the children close to his heart, he’d treasure Mary’s sketchbook forever but the only things he had the power to change was what was right before him. Mary needed to know she wasn’t as alone as she felt. Saeran needed to discover the truth about Rika. He needed to confront his feeling towards V and the mess of broken trust and lies that laid between them all.
But it was a delicate balancing act.
Acting too soon only caused some days to rewind. Sometimes he’d lose so much process with Mary that it physically hurt to just hear her being so mad at him again. It was a pain he was willing to face again and again if it meant that he got to see that smile light up her features as they danced in the dark. He just needed to be careful and Seven could be careful - but not when it came to Mary or his brother. They meant the world to him. He simply wished for them to be able to face the truth of the reality they were in...so it was frustrating to have to watch and wait for them to discover their own truth.
And who knew just how the God’s or whoever was responsible for the resets, how they would take this moment that they now shared. As he took her hand and gently lead her through dance, humming a gentle tune under his breath, a song that they used to sing to one another after they’d watched the musical together.
“You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
I know you want me
So don't keep saying our hands are tied
You claim it's not in the cards
Fate is pulling you miles away”
He sang softly, gently twirling the love of his life, watching the smile that graced her lips, the way in which the stars caused her eyes to sparkle, the way in which her heart raced whenever she was pulled gently against his chest, the hacker unable to stop himself from smiling as he simply lost himself in this precious moment of peace and quiet. When the rest of the world was asleep, it was the one time of the day where they could be free to be with one another - to be who they were truly supposed to be.
“What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Nothing could keep us apart
You'd be the one I was meant to find
It's up to you, and it's up to me
No one can say what we get to be
So why don't we rewrite the stars?
Maybe the world could be ours
Tonight”
With his usual cheeky grin, his Angel was pulled close as he leaned in and gently captured her lips with his open, holding her close as they swayed gently, his hand gently resting against heated skin, his own cheeks filling with colour as he pulled gently apart, resting their foreheads together, golden hues looking into her own -
“I love you, Angel”
