98. “Hold me back!”
“Hold me back!” Mari snarled, her arms outstretched as if she expected her brother and her girlfriend to actually restrain her.
“Never. Go beat some ass, sis.” Emrys grinned at his sister’s antics, pushing her forward a little to encourage her.
Mari huffed, flipping her bright green bangs out of sight for the moment as she charged up to some necromancers that were about to have a really bad day, a very heavy biology textbook in hand.
“Why does she do that every time?” Emrys muttered, laughing under his breath.
“I don’t know. but it’s super hot.” Irisi said absentmindedly, immediately blushing after she realized what she said.
“Useless lesbian.” Emrys teased, picking up Mari’s lime green, sharpie-stained backpack and hefting it over his unoccupied shoulder. He halfheartedly threw some magic snow at Irisi’s face. “You’re so red.”
Irisi made an annoyed expression, and waved her hand, blowing away the snow in a mini sandstorm.
“It is awesome though.” Irisi said, pointing to where Mari was down the hall, currently bodily protecting a much taller boy in a beanie from the group of bullies she was scolding.
“How likely is it that we just picked up a new friend after this?” Emrys tore his eyes away from the scene to continue his conversation with the sorcerer beside him.
“Considering that’s one of the Tamier twins, I think we’re gonna have enough people to start that Queer Straight Alliance you were talking about the other day, because they’re kind of a package deal.” Irisi said, never looking away from her kickass girlfriend as she began waving the biology book threateningly, yelling about how bullshit social constructs are.
“How likely is it that she’ll get detention again?” Emrys tried again.
“One hundred percent.” Irisi mumbled, still staring at the scene in front of them. “I’ll start on some of her projects, you outline some of her essays?”
Emrys huffed, pulling his planner out of his bag and using a glittering green pen to write about doing some of Mari’s homework. “I guess.”
Mari threw a book directly at the biggest bully’s head, knocking them flat onto the ground.
“She’s the best.” Irisi sighed, her amber eyes alight with the most mushy expression known to humankind.
