Dresden!verse Evelyn/Galatea
((Okay, some thoughts on a Dresden!verse. Note that this is technically a crossover ‘verse between Doctor Who and The Dresden Files.
Present-day Evelyn:
While in Wisteria, she learned some stuff about herself, but nowhere near everything. She knows that 1) Her father isn’t her real father, 2) She isn’t completely human, 3) Her real father isn’t human at all (I’m thinking this will be a portion of the Sidhe tie-in, probably Winter Court, but she doesn’t know specific details yet), 4) Her friend Alice Deva was manipulating her, 5) Her mother’s mind was screwed around with in some way. She does not understand the full extent of any of this, of what she is, of why she is being manipulated, or of what she is capable of when at full strength.
I want to get her to Chicago somehow. I think after all that, she just wants to leave Wisteria and never look back. Not sure why she would move specifically to Chicago. I thought about giving her extended family there, an aunt or a cousin maybe, but I’m not sure if she’d be eager to go connect with more family after all that. But maybe if she’s desperate enough and needed a place to stay for a bit while getting back on her feet after moving... could make for some interesting relationship dynamics too. Will have to think on what to do with that character.
I think she takes out a business loan, buys a little storefront in Chicago and opens her own curio shop-- Boreas Curios, Antiques, and Oddities.
She finds Chicago to be... rather a lot to handle, after living in the relatively quiet Wisteria all her (remembered) life. She’s not used to the crowds or noise or bustle. Also, it’s cold in the winter.
Past Galatea:
She is still the result of an accord made between the original Time Lords (Rassilon, Omega, the Other) and various other species to create a slaved being capable of Traveling through time, space, and potentiality at will. (I know I haven’t really mentioned it in this blog yet, but one of the intentions I had with Evelyn/Galatea was that she also had the potential to Travel between universes, but I never really explored that yet).
Of course, they essentially created a physical construct to house an already-existing, non-corporeal being, but, you know, their hubris being what it is...
But, yeah. Each of these species contributed genetic material to create the construct, and each of them has a claim on Galatea, the strength of said claim depending on which species. The Time Lords have the primary claim. But one of those species is the Sidhe, specifically the Winter Court and Mab.
Another crossover thought: The Time War involved the Outsiders and Nemesis.
And, though I’ve gone over this before, I’ll re-iterate here: Galatea was severely injured in the Time War, burned nearly to the point of death. The Time Lords, to some degree prescient of what was about to happen to them, repaired her body and locked her into a trans-dimensional bilateral mirror framework that was then linked to a genetically engineered, part human embryo. They, currently still locked away in an alternate universe, had intended to use Galatea as a fail-safe/wild card to bring them back. Her memories were suppressed as well, as a way of containing her and keeping her under control, though things have been slipping through over time, since she instinctively worked herself partially free of the framework to go on brief Travels while her part-human body sleeps. It was a fairly sloppy and rushed procedure, done as an act of desperation, and Evelyn’s part-human construct has difficulty handling the strain of it, leaving her with severe fatigue, chronic pain, and eventually the beginnings of organ failure. It’ll kill her eventually if there is no intervention.
May write more later as it occurs to me.))
