Beautiful. She is absolutely beautiful.
Araleyn!!!!! Because I’m in a wlw mood!
-
She’s beautiful.
She’s absolutely beautiful.
That’s the first thing that Catalina thought when she saw her.
In their first lives, back when they’d been introduced as queen and lady in waiting. The first thing that came to mind is that Anne Boleyn is beautiful.
At the time it’d been a shock. She’d never seen what her husband saw in the women he brought to their castle. But she saw it in her.
And in Anne becoming her lady in waiting, they got to know each other quite well. So obviously she knew that Anne was not just beautiful. No, she was intelligent, witty, passionate, charismatic, and so many other things.
Or, rather, Catalina realized that all of these things made up Anne’s beauty. Her passion added to her laugh, her charisma to her walk and talk, her wittyness to her eyes and smile as they lit up the whole room around her. She was beautiful because she was all of these things. Of course Henry liked this girl. Catalina liked her, in the very beginning.
Her intelligence, though; Anne’s intelligence is what stole the king's heart.
She played him, and her, all the way up until she had him. If she’d have had a boy, she probably would have gotten away with it.
Now they’ve been reincarnated, and Catalina sees Anne Boleyn for the first time, again.
And she is absolutely beautiful.
Breathtaking, as she was in her first life. Just as charming, and intelligent. Witty but with a darker humor to it. Passionately taking on the new ways of the world. Anne Boleyn is just as beautiful thi time around, and Catalina feels just as taken aback by this.
Back then, she’d reacted out of jealousy. Anne was beautiful, and was trying to steal her husband. This time, it was spite. Anne is beautiful, how is that fair? She ruined Catalina’s life!
Except Catalina isn’t as mad at Anne about what happened as she thought she’d be. Five hundred years- and a beheading- really puts some things into perspective. And then, of course, there was the apology. The woman had sat down with Catalina, crying, and apologized for everything. Every nasty look, every spiteful word, all of it. And then Catalina did something she didn’t know she would do herself, something that shocked everyone, she accepted the apology. Forgave Anne Boleyn.
If her past self could see her now! She’d have her heart failure a little earlier than god intended.
But her eyes were so honest, and teary, and beautiful. And Catalina couldn’t let herself keep such beautiful eyes so guilty. Not if she could help it.
They became friends after that. A month in Anne called Catalina beautiful and Catalina choked on air. It was the most undignified response she’d ever produced, and she thought about it for weeks. Then another month later Catalina returns the compliment shyly, unsure if it would be taken well. Anne had been crying again.
She thinks her scar is ugly, and Catalina won’t have it. Nothing about Anne is ugly. Not one thing. She tells Anne so, and Anne accepts the compliment just as shyly as it was given. They don’t talk about it, but Anne is more open to Catalina about her feelings after that.
When Anne first decides to take a dancing class, everyone is hesitant to let her. For one thing, Anne now is sensitive. The slightest bit of fakeness or harsh words make her panic a bit. Understandable, given her trauma, but not a great combination for outings.
But Anne was so sure. She said that daily structured outings would be good for her, actually. And, well, Catalina was inclined to agree. Anne now also doesn’t lie.
Catalina went with her of course. Purely for support. They’re friends now, and it’s not like Katherine could come to this kind of environment. It’s then that she sees it.
All of the things that have always made Anne beautiful. They shine when she’s dancing. Her passion thrums into the floor as she jumps, her charisma entrances you to watch. Her wit shows in the way she feels and interprets the music and molds it to conform to her, her intelligence thrives as she makes up dance after dance. It’s breathtaking. She’s beautiful.
Anne compliments Catalina’s dancing all of the time, but Catalina always counters easily. A compliment for Anne Boleyn is easy to come up with. She still does see exactly what her husband had seen in her all those years ago. But now she’s convinced that she sees way more; someone entirely different than Henry, or any man who has ever looked, saw.
Anne Boleyn is beautiful. And that’s what Catalina tells her every day.
In the morning, as they get breakfast ready for the others.
When they’re drifting off on the couch after a marathon of a show Anne loves but Catalina only tolerates.
After one of Anne’s elaborate dances.
When Anne cries, or laughs, or randomly in the day,
Walking hand in hand down the street toward the park, as good friends do.
When they start going to the movies at six every other Thursday, then going to dinner after. Sometimes not coming home until the early hours of the morning because they never wanted it to end.
As Anne wakes up next to her in Catalina’s bed because they stayed up all night having deep conversations.
When she kisses Anne for the first time.
Well, technically Anne kissed Catalina. But Catalina had responded enthusiastically.
So yes, Anne is beautiful.
She’s absolutely beautiful.
And Anne seems to think Catalina is quite something too, considering that she asked Catalina to be her girlfriend shortly after their kiss.
