But in honor of Weller Wednesday, why not go back to where it all began...at Stitzel-Weller Distillery. . Our first stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail was to the historic Stitzel-Weller Distillery, which was opened on Derby Day 1935 by Pappy Van Winkle. Now home to the @Bulleit Experience at Stitzel-Weller in Shively, Kentucky (just outside of Louisville), the distillery is a part of the @KentuckyBourbonTrail. It's a beautiful grand old distillery, and we'd highly recommend a visit. . The Five Key symbol is seen throughout Stitzel-Weller and has been there since Pappy ran the place. It’s representative of the five steps of making Bourbon: grains, yeast, fermentaion, distillation and aging.
