The fact that Claude had no problems with the Robanes since they’re his biggest allies, and the reason he even became emperor the first place. The only reason why rejected the engagement between Elliot and Athanasia was because he was bitter and jealous that Athanasia could find love easily, while his own is dead and buried.

And as punishment for her unacceptable behavior( like he was any better) he let himself be manipulated, not to even manipulated he was just being a dick, into forcing his sixteen year old daughter marry a rumored abusive man who’s twice her age and even older than him, that already had children that where older than her.

And with that he also essentially ruined his relationship with the Robanes, after Evelyn rightfully calls him out for humiliating them too, abandoning them for the Alpheus, and not repaying them for their years of loyalty and being the only reason he sitting on the throne

It wasn’t even worth it in the end. Athanasia died and his grandchildren had to fix the relationship with the Robanes, and even that it wasn’t like before

If those events only took place in the original timeline and not in the reincarnated timeline,why is Claude still judged for them? Aren’t they a kind of “nonexistent” or erased event in the current timeline?

I feel like most people have not read the novel so they don't hate novel Claude in particular compared to manhwa Claude (as the manhwa is a proper reincarnation story where those events did happen to our Athy). In any case, novel Claude is not as, huh, softened as he is in the manhwa, so I think people would hate him more for other reasons.

But I don't know, really. Personally I'm more indifferent to Claude in general.
