She was only here because offering another excuse not to go would only make Stradden aware there was something bigger going on. If anything, Ruby wanted to keep him far away from knowing she and the princess were speaking - especially because Ruby did not want to continue speaking to Astrid herself. She stuck to the shadows, drinking and flirting but turning down every offer to dance or otherwise make herself known.

Things would be easier if she hadn't felt the need to do her hair up the same way she always did - elaborately and elegantly with pins capped with jewels. People never failed to recognise her yellow hair, her commanding stance, and her jeweled hair (and, of course the veil).

But after a few hours of doing nothing but drink and flirt and refuse business with the excuse, "It is a time indecent to discuss the body, I fear. At least, it is with men who do not enjoy discussing it," Ruby thought it safe to turn to the whorehouse once more. She made her way around the festivities towards the road that led home, wondering whether she should prepare herself dinner or take some now before she got too far along.

Her wondering was interrupted with the introduction of a body blocking her path. That is - a queen stood in her way, and Ruby was in no place to ask her to move.

It would be just as rude to stand there staring, however, and, with a low curtsy, she announced herself with a compliment: "Your Majesty is even more beautiful and awesome than the rumors did mention, if it is not too bold to say."
